Area man cited in local marijuana grow

A Summit Lake man turned himself in to Langlade County authorities Wednesday on charges filed in connection with a marijuana grow operation uncovered in a forested area in the town of Upham last month. Bail was set at $300 cash for Dwayne Gresser, 38, of N9566 County Road B on charges which include manufacture or delivery of marijuana, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and an illegally obtained prescription. Busy Antigo High School marching band joins Crandon race parade Friday

The Antigo High School marching band will perform at Friday’s annual off-road parade in downtown Crandon, bringing a bit of Red Robin flair to the home of the Cardinals. Antigo man cited in local bath salt sale

A drug transaction involving the sale of suspected bath salts at an Antigo home earlier this year has resulted in the filing of criminal charges against the accused seller. Dominic J.L. Becerra, 36, of 232 1/2 E. North Ave. was ordered held in the Langlade County Jail Tuesday on a $5,000 cash bond on charges he sold one gram of the salts to an undercover informant for $120. Bruce Burnside, with songs of the Civil War, closes park series Thursday

Bruce Burnside and friends will present “Songs of the Civil War” for the finale of Antigo’s summer Music in the Park series Thursday. Approval of the 2013-2014 school budget calls for property tax gain

Approval of the 2013-14 budget, which calls for a 10 percent increase in the property tax levy, awaits action by the Antigo school board Tuesday. Man charged in bank tussle, bath salts cited

An Antigo man was ordered held here Tuesday on a $5,000 cash bond with a stipulation if freed that he not use a drug known as bath salts.

Wayne Tullberg, 45, of 629 1/2 Fifth Ave. was arrested Monday morning when an apparent bout of paranoia, believed brought on by the substance, caused him to seek refuge inside the Chase banking institution on the fear that someone outside the location was planning to kill him.

Interim administrator hired for school district

The Antigo school board Tuesday filled a key administrative vacancy, selecting Dr. Don Childs to serve as interim administrator through June 30, 2014. Childs, who most recently served as interim administrator for the Clinton Community School District in southeastern Wisconsin, was selected on a 7-2 vote with Clark Palmer and Jim Schulz opposed. Bath salts recovered from Tenth Avenue home, two cited

Criminal charges were filed here Monday against two people arrested in a weekend visit by law officers to a Tenth Avenue residence as part of an investigation involving illicit drugs, including suspected bath salts. Nathan R. Bailey Jr., 23, of 934 Deleglise St. and Jeffrey Spencer, 38, of 1601 10th Ave. both appeared before Langlade County Judge Fred Kawalski in connection with their Aug. 18 arrest.
