Man bound over for trial on child sex count

Citing the introduction of uncontroverted evidence, Langlade County Judge Fred Kawalski bound an Antigo man over for trial at conclusion of a preliminary hearing Tuesday on allegations of child sexual assault. Edward L. Fleming, 58, of 1336 Neva Road remains jailed in the local lockup on a $100,000 cash bond on charges which accuse him of molesting a young girl during the summer of 2012. Stunning information at bath salts meeting

The tragedy of using drugs, especially the latest phenomenon to sweep the Antigo area — bath salts — was the topic of discussion at a well-attended meeting Tuesday evening. In was another in a series of sessions conducted by the county sheriff’s drug officer, Dan Bauknecht, who with chagrin has become an expert on bath sales, their availability and impact. Monroe Crossing entertains big crowd Monday at Music in the Park

Monroe Crossing, a bluegrass band that is in demand across the United States, and for that matter, the world, made a stop in Antigo’s City Park Monday evening for a visit. The visit was for the twice-weekly Music in the Park series, which is planning a full August of extra-special music and events before winding down at the end of the month. School district eyes finalists for top position

The Unified School District of Antigo Board of Education selected two finalists for its interim district administrator position. They are David Bardo, former district administrator for the Laona and Wittenberg-Birnamwood school districts; and Don Childs, former interim district administrator in the Clinton, Waupun, Beaver Dam and Howard-Suamico school districts. TrailCon returns to county next weekend, ideal location for event

Langlade County will live up to its billing as “The County of Trails” next weekend. The second annual TrailCon USA conference will be held Friday and Saturday at the Langlade County Fairgrounds, offering an opportunity to mingle with trail users and vendors and maybe try out some new equipment. Board rejects request for panel to review task force proposals

On a 6-3 vote, the Antigo school board Wednesday rejected a proposal to establish a committee to study the recently completed work of the school task force. Action came at a special meeting called to fill some staffing vacancies and, in closed session, to interview candidates for the position of interim district administrator. $100,000 bond for man cited in sex case

Bail was set at $100,000 cash Monday for Edward L. Fleming, an Antigo man who was returned here from California after fighting extradition on a local charge of first degree sexual assault of a child.

The hearing before Langlade County Judge Fred Kawalski came five months after a warrant was filed for Fleming’s arrest after he failed to appear in court on allegations he molested a girl under the age of 13.
