Reads, interprets and follows simple blueprints, diagrams and sketches, making all measurements and calculations necessary to complete job. 2. Performs construction and systems work using appropriate materials and hand, power, portable and stationery tools and equipment. May operate mobile equipment. Performs water treatment and fire protection equipment tests following prescribed methods. Adds materials and makes corrections and repairs based on test results. 3. During cleanouts and emergencies, may work with other maintenance employees, performing any duties necessary to get equipment back into operation in minimum time. 4. Instructs other maintenance employees on jobs where it is necessary to work together or when requested by supervision. 5. Makes out requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc. and performs other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed. 6. Uses safe work practices including the use of eye, ear, respiratory and foot protection equipment as needed. Reports hazardous conditions at all times. 7. Keeps equipment and work areas clean and orderly at all times. 8. Must possess and maintain the necessary tools for above classification where required and be proficient in their use and care. 9. Performs other related duties as directed including duties of lower classifications. The above sets forth the major work performed and serves the purpose of recording those items of work for job evaluation rating.
