Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: The position incumbent may be exposed to potentially physically demanding situations such as client intervention/restraint or lifting children. Must be able to tolerate periods of significant job-related stress Skills: Requires the ability to apply therapeutic training in the assessment and treatment of emotionally disturbed clients including knowledge of psychological and developmental theory. Requires knowledge of a variety of treatment modalities (individual, group, family, and play therapy) and clinical interventions appropriate to the population served. Requires effective analytical and problem solving skills in identifying client needs and developing plans to address those needs. Requires effective communication and interpersonal skills to function as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and to coordinate with outside resources/contacts. Requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with a variety of clients exhibiting a wide range of treatment needs and diverse backgrounds. Requires knowledge of available community resources and how to access those resources, knowledge of special education procedures when dealing with schools, and knowledge of DSMIV diagnostic identifications. Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Minimum Qualifications: Therapist I: MSW with LGSW (licensed graduate social worker) or MA/MS in Psychology or related field with CPC (certified professional counselor). Some experience working with the targeted program population preferred. Therapist II: LCSW-C (licensed certified social worker-clinical) or LCPC (licensed certified professional counselor) and two years post-graduate experience working with the targeted program population.
