Thoracic diseases occur frequently in overlap with cardiovascular conditions so the appropriate individual must have or develop strong clinical skills across the entire spectrum of Cardiothoracic illness and the surgical and medical management therein. 2. The APN will be heavily engaged in staff education and quality improvement activities. More specifically, direct education nursing staff related to skills development as well as support of established educational programs already in existence for relevant critical and non-critical units will be required. The APN will be required to teach the technical and critical thinking skills required of the nursing staff to maintain a high performing culture in patient care.
