Program Manager - Residue Management

Details: Alcoa is looking for strong talent to fill our Environmental Science & Sustainable Technology (ESST) Program Manager role. The primary purpose for this role is to serve as the principal technical and program management lead for strategic residue reuse and commercialization projects. Alcoa has set a very challenging environment, health, and safety (EHS) related sustainable development goals, which includes beneficial use of Alcoa’s process by-product, i.e., bauxite residue. To achieve these goals in an innovative and cost-efficient manner that will add to Alcoa's bottom line, this position is needed to: Establish and maintain coordination of residue beneficial reuse projects at Alcoa Technical Center (ATC) and worldwide via focused collaboration with Corporate EHS, ATC R&D, AWA-TDG, business unit (BU) production and Remediation personnel. Provide focus and direction so the goals are met via innovative technologies/approaches, material recycle/reuse, rather than the more conventional end-of-pipe treatment approaches. Provide supervision of mid-level and junior ESST engineers/scientists as well as guidance to ESST personnel and ATC technologists Develop, identify and transfer environmental and sustainability technologies and approaches across Alcoa worldwide/ Benchmark, collaborate, and engage external stakeholders and customers outside of Alcoa for the purpose of commercialization of Alcoa developed technologies in the area of residue recycle/reuse. Major Activities/Key Challenges: Identify and develop creative and innovative solutions to problems of a conceptual nature, and /or develop new technology through exploration and synthesis of ideas, concepts, and existing technology Responsible for Program Management for residue re-use projects in particular the projects related to acid mine drainage remediation, levee construction, geopolymer, phosphogypsum and projects related to the use of bauxite residue in fertilizer applications including establishing program objectives as well as program planning, reviews and execution phases. Initiate and lead substantial projects both technically and commercially; identify needs and recommends project approaches including addressing all related EHS and regulatory issues Collaborate on projects, reaching beyond assigned responsibilities, to assist others as necessary to achieve goals, encourage collaborative relationships within project team or work group Provide supervision of junior engineers/scientists/technologists and act as a mentor within the technology area; consistently providing functional guidance to technicians and less experienced engineers. Provide quality assurance/quality control of residue beneficial product as well as provide technical marketing/sales support for residue by-product commercialization

This position is responsible for merchandising fasteners (nails and screws) in assigned home improvement retail stores. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, eight hour shifts. Job responsibilities include, down-stocking products, installing signage, maintaining plan-o-gram layouts, pricing displays, and training store employees on the different fasteners. The role requires the ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs, carry 50 lbs up and down on ladders, working on concrete surfaces, bend, kneel, and stoop. The ability to work efficiently and effectively without direct supervision is a must. Merchandising representatives will work in multiple stores daily throughout their designated area.
