Certification Engineer

The Big Picture - Top Skills You Should Possess: Responsible for the research, coordination, planning, testing and report writing in the certification of aircraft passenger seats in accordance with the approving authorities (FAA/EASA) certification approval process. What You'll Be Doing: Preparation of test plans, reports and other necessary documents in support of FAA certification and compliance with airframe manufacturer requirements. Support testing activities in the test laboratory. Support test article conformity activities, as required. Must be detail oriented and have sound engineering judgment. Must be self-motivated and a self-starter. Must have ability to think strategically and solve problems. Group Function (GF) Responsibilities: Manage and coordinate accurate accounting and reporting for US based GF including: Alignment with GF Global Finance, local management and US Finance Manage process to ensure accurate classification of expenses and capitalization versus functions, cost centers and projects Support GF reporting and forecasting Manage capitalization and balance process for R&D projects in collaboration with GF Global Finance. Ad-hoc analysis of performance and initiatives. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends to meet business/customer needs. Participates in any and all reasonable work activities as assigned by management. EXPERIENCE: 5-7 + years’ cost center accounting experience in a factory or distribution center environment; expertise in industrial cost center accounting. Experience with Supply Chain analysis and project experience. Experience accounting for inventory, inventory value, taking physical inventory, auditing cycle counts and reserves. Some project management experience working successfully as part of cross functional teams to drive business improvements. Experience with in multiple ERPs accounting from OTC and PTP mega processes. Experienced setting up and maintaining cost centers, GL accounts and standard costs. Experienced managing accruals for transportation or other large overlapping spends. Experienced in financial analysis, ROI, NPV and cost benefit analysis. Developing and/or validating financial reports in MS Access, SQL or Crystal environments. EDUCATION : Bachelor degree in Accounting; Information Technologies; Business Administration (i.e. Statistics, Business, Economics); Master’s degree highly desirable. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS : Proficiency with MS Office (advanced skill set with Excel); Experience with automated accounting systems and database concepts; Database reporting skills are a plus (Access, SQL, Crystal Reporting). Experience in a multiple ERP setting, ERP financial document flows. In depth knowledge of Group accounting policies and IFRS. Strong technical skills and experience in financial reporting and analysis along with exceptional presentation skills. Excellent analysis, problem-solving, team, conflict management and time management skills. Demonstrates success in developing and successfully implementing accounting policies, procedures, controls and financial reporting while maximizing efficiencies. Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and prioritize work appropriately accompanied with superior communication skills (verbal and written). Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment. Results oriented with focus on achieving overall business objectives. Solid strategic thinking skills; the ability to execute on Company objectives and departmental goals and provide solutions accordingly. Strong business acumen along with solid quantitative aptitude and analysis skills. Must be a self-starter, independent thinker, problem solver accompanied with a sense of urgency.
