Independently manage the settlement of property claims which are either insured or self assumed. Be accountable for the Corporation’s costs of its property damage risks which include property insurance premiums, self assumed property claims and costs of property inspections and other property loss prevention activities. Provide technical expertise, direction, and knowledge in implementing risk analysis and reduction methods to the Corporation. Embed various risk management processes within the corporation. Provide functional oversight to the Risk Coordinator and Insurance Analyst II roles Principal Accountabilities: • Analyze Property, Terrorism, Cyber, Director’s and Officer’s and Aviation insurance proposals and assist with the negotiation of premiums and coverage, which are competitively priced and provide the Corporation with innovative insurance coverage consistent with its needs. • Provide management and functional oversight to the Insurance Analyst and Risk Protection Coordinator roles. The focus will be to build their talents with emphasis on Cost of Risk reductions and proactive mitigation tools (e.g. reduction of loss expectancies over $10MM, implementation of FM Standards). • The incumbent is responsible for identifying and implementing strategies that more effectively utilize the captive insurance company, Ridgeway Insurance Company. The incumbent directs and audits the development and maintenance of plans by the sectors, manufacturing facilities and business units for crisis management and disaster preparedness to ensure adequate contingency planning in the event of significant loss to property or interruption of manufacturing resulting from physical damage. • Continue to embed an awareness of risk and Smart Risk Taking throughout the organization through ongoing value-added interactions with business units and support organizations. Drive collaborative efforts with Strategy, FP&A and the Business Units to embed smart risk taking principles into their forecasting and planning process. • Drive the Enterprise Risk Management process through leadership of risk assessments that focus on quantifying existing and emerging risks in order to drive actions that reduce the frequency or mitigate potential losses. Drive continuous improvement of the end-to-end Risk Assessment process in order to ensure the tools, processes, and outcomes meet or exceed customers’ expectations. • Facilitate periodic meetings with the underwriting community, with emphasis on K-C’s loss prevention and mitigation programs. Productive sessions will result in K-C obtaining top quartile insurance renewals and premium reductions. The role must analyze coverage opportunities that could require the Corporation to increase their self-insured retentions. • Provide consultative, investigative and advisory service throughout the entire Corporation, as well as outside the company, when required, to minimize and control insurance costs, protect personnel, and preserve company properties and profits. This requires the management of two key external vendors (Global Risk Consultants, Aon). This also requires ongoing site inspections, proactive loss control activities, audits and educational presentations to global operations, management staff and will include Collaborative Risk Assessments at high risk locations. • Manage claim and litigation activity related to the placements of the insurance coverage’s referenced in item 1 above. This requires following the Protocol with Legal and aggressively pursuing disposition opportunities. An ongoing partnership with the Legal Department is essential. • Provide global advice and counsel regarding casualty insurance terms used in various contracts such as leases, purchase and sales agreements, construction agreements and other documents which could create liability risks for the company. Also identify gaps with sole suppliers that could expose the Corporation, then implement strategies to mitigate this risk factor. • Collaborate with the VP – Global Risk Management to control the risk facing the corporation. This will require benchmarking, analyzing industry trends, react on feedback from brokers and a solid understanding of the Corporation. • The incumbent will be assigned select due diligence projects by the V-P. This requires a thorough analysis of the property and casualty risk associated with the potential acquisition and then directing the due diligence team on the expected risk levels. • Develop a budget of the Property Cost of Risk annually and ensure property premium allocation is made and distributed globally. • Ensure timely and equitable settlement of insurance claims for property damage and business interruption and crime claims following the terms of the insurance policies and accepted loss handling procedures. To achieve timely and equitable settlements, the incumbent is responsible for functionally managing department resources including building talent within the department in terms of investigating, documenting, measuring and settling of property claims. Incumbent will be assigned select property and crime claims for handling to conclusion. • Collaborate with other corporate departments including the Occupational Safety and Health staff, the Legal Department, Global Security, Environmental and Energy and other functions to develop and submit recommendations designed to assure personnel safety as well as property conservation. • This position has a role in the ERM process, Country and project risk assessments, ERM enhancements, visions and quantification will be required. • Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates and others who have need to know.
