Address safety issues with drivers in a timely manner and respond with appropriate actions which may include warnings, probation, and possible termination. Utilize driver scorecard in coaching and mentoring drivers to ensure key factors are met, i.e. on time service, OOR, MPG, utilization and idle in support of a positive revenue stream Provide solutions to the driver planner when needed to assist with covering freight, on time deliveries, trailer pool management and load recoveries. Communicate timely and effectively both through People-Net and over the phone with drivers. Communicate with drivers, planners, and customer service to meet customer expectations and on time service requirements. Work effectively with safety and maintenance teams to address issues and concerns regarding drivers and equipment. Coach drivers on performance issues to include poor trip planning, service exceptions, company policy violations, and communicating effectively. Provide feedback to operations manager regarding driver issues/concerns that are not improving or may need further intervention with either operations or safety. Dispatch freight in accordance with company policies, federal guidelines regarding hours of service to minimize empty miles and maximize revenue. Monitor detention & make delivery appointments when necessary. Monitor drivers Hours of Service to ensure they are running within FMCSA regs. Be proactive with ability to problem resolution in driver needs and issues. Solicit drivers from other departments when necessary to cover freight Assist planner in planning out freight Build a relationship between drivers and management. Provide feedback both positive and constructive to drivers.
