MARATHON COUNTY - Leaders in Marathon County want to put an end to heroin abuse. The Marathon County Alcohol and Other Drug Partnership leaders met at the Marathon County Sheriff's Department Thursday.
Leaders discussed a new report on the county's heroin epidemic.
EAGLE RIVER - The Northland Pines School District just got $300,000 in grants from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. One is to help start a Montessori Learning Center. It will open in the Fall of 2015 for 4K through fourth graders. The district will spend this year planning and hiring staff.
The Montessori Learning Center will most likely be in St. Germain.
RHINELANDER - You should add vaccines to your "back to school" to do list. Most schools require kids to get immunizations before returning to school.
Children between the ages four and six need to get boosters of four vaccines: DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertusis), MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella), Chickenpox, and Polio.

PRICE COUNTY - The Price County man accused of killing his wife entered a plea today, but a judge needs to think over whether to accept that plea.
William Rambo was charged with first degree murder in the death of his wife Dawn last August in Park Falls.

It will be held at the same time as the regular archery season, which starts in mid-September.
RHINELANDER - They may not be tall enough to shoot on regulation hoops, but the Little Dribblers are hitting the court and training to become Hodags.
The Little Hodags Camp held a Dribblers session in July, and now they are back Mondays and Wednesdays to keep practicing.
WOOD COUNTY - One person died on the scene of a Wood County crash last Wednesday.
Now, a second person has died from crash injuries.
Sheriff's deputies learned this morning that Linda Knapp, the driver, died.
MARATHON COUNTY - Oneida County Judge Michael Bloom will preside in the case surrounding a deadly Marathon County car crash.
The crash killed two girls, and the 16-year-old driver is facing charges.
Bloom was assigned to the case after a Marathon County judge removed himself from it.
THREE LAKES - This year, Wisconsin seems likely to avoid a huge wildfire like last year's Douglas County fire.
The 2013 Germann Road Fire burned more than 7,000 acres and destroyed 47 structures.
Fire season this year has been fairly tame.
ADAMS COUNTY - The Adams County Sheriff's Office needs help finding a 49-year-old man.
They believe he is at risk.
Michael Campbell was last seen around 8 p.m. Tuesday night near the 2300 Block of County Highway Z in southwestern Adams County.

RHINELANDER - A new restaurant in Rhinelander opens its doors officially Friday, but the restaurant is not new to the Northwoods.
Tula's Cafe in Rhinelander will hold its Grand Opening on Friday. The event will last through Labor Day. The restaurant has been open for a few weeks. Store managers are happy with the busy lunch hour.
FON DU LAC - A Fond du Lac man accused of breaking into at least three homes while naked has been charged with eight felonies.
Prosecutors say 26-year-old Lucas S. Leffel walked into the homes through unlocked doors and that he touched at least one adult female while she slept.
MADISON - Gov. Scott Walker says voters will have a clear-cut choice when deciding in November whether to vote for him or Democratic challenger Mary Burke.
Walker spoke Wednesday on WTMJ-AM after Burke easily advanced in the Democratic primary Tuesday.
MERRILL - Skippers Restaurant has been a staple in Merrill since back in 1937. The dish they're most known for is their delicious ham.
Skippers consultant Judy Erno explains, "The ham is tumbled and slow roasted here and it is served in a large chunk."
MARATHON COUNTY - An estimated one million gallons of manure spilled from a farm storage tank in Marathon County over the last year.
It seeped into wetlands that feed into the Little Eau Pleine River.
A county conservation official said the discharge came from the 120-cow, Willcome dairy farm.
RHINELANDER - Chinese students get the unique chance to be scouts at a local camp.
Camp Tesomas' Scout camp devotes two weeks a year to 24 students who come over from China for the chance to adventure in the Northwoods. Students get to rock-climb, ride ATVs, and zipline.
WISCONSIN - Democratic candidate for Governor Mary Burke will represents Democrats on this November's ballot, after handily defeating Rep. Brett Hulsey (D- Madison).
As of 10:43 p.m. Tuesday evening, Burke had 84 percent of votes with 75 percent of the precincts reporting statewide.
WISCONSIN - Voters decided which candidates will advance to November 4's general election at today's primary elections across the state.

NORTHWOODS - Last week, an SUV with ten teenage passengers crashed on Highway 52 in Marathon County. The crash left two of the passengers dead. The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle didn't have a driver's license. The driver will face charges for the crash.
