Northland Pines School District to expand, add charter school programs

EAGLE RIVER - The Northland Pines School District just got $300,000 in grants from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. One is to help start a Montessori Learning Center. It will open in the Fall of 2015 for 4K through fourth graders. The district will spend this year planning and hiring staff.

The Montessori Learning Center will most likely be in St. Germain.

Students to get hands-on experience with solar panels

THREE LAKES - Students in Three Lakes will get to use hands-on tools this school year to learn more about solar energy.

Workers from Wisconsin Public Service installed 10 panels on top of the school Wednesday afternoon. The project is part of the company's SolarWise school program. School leaders are excited for the learning opportunities for students.

Deadly car crash brings up questions of teen driving restrictions

NORTHWOODS - Last week, an SUV with ten teenage passengers crashed on Highway 52 in Marathon County. The crash left two of the passengers dead. The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle didn't have a driver's license. The driver will face charges for the crash.

Some wonder what measures are in place to stop this from happening again.
