New App Helps Hunters Stay Safe in the Woods

TOMAHAWK - The vast, serene Northwoods can be the idyllic place to hunt. But the expanse can also make it difficult to get to hunters when they get into trouble. With safety issues an ongoing concern a new app will give a little piece of mind to hunters, and it was designed by a Tomahawk man. When Chase Bouman moved to the Northwoods for work he started hunting in the vast wilderness. He realized how hard it would be for someone to find him if something bad happened. Baking from the Heart

Rosettes, Sandbakkels, and KrumKake may not sound like typical cookies you reach for, but for Chris Garness these treats bring back decades of memories. The recipes for these traditional Scandinavian cookies originate from Chris' parents, who had a long history in the bakery business. Chris Garness says, "My mother made sure that I could produce these cookies from her death bed in the hospital." Now, Chris is recreating the flavors for the Northwoods by building his own business. Bouquets to Benefit Homeless Shelter

TOMAHAWK - This time of year we like to pause and give thanks for the things we have, but it's also a time to remember and lend a hand to those who are struggling. Now you can help the homeless in our community, while adding some beauty to your own home. The Scarlet Garden in Tomahawk is offering a special bouquet for $50. 25% of the proceeds will go right to the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing. Full Story: WJFW
