TOMAHAWK - The state needs twelve members for it's new Sporting Heritage Council. The goal is to have your voice give state officials tips on handling issues we face with hunting and fishing. The five catergories the Council will represent are Anglers, Furbearers, as well as deer, bird and bear hunters. Nick Schertz is a member of Lincoln County's Conservation Congress. SUPERIOR - A snowmobiler who'd been missing in the Superior area since Saturday has been found. He's safe but suffering from effects of the cold. Superior police say 51-year-old Craig Friebe was found Monday morning on the ice of the Nemadji River. He was taken to a hospital with symptoms of frostbite and hypothermia. Full Story: WJFW

VILAS COUNTY - A snowmobiler may have been drinking before slaming into a tree in Vilas County. The sheriff's department got word of the crash about 10:20 last night from a Bo Boen Snowmobile club trail groomer. The snowmobiler left trail 6 near Content Lake road and hit the tree. Full Story: WJFW

EAGLE RIVER (WAOW) - Despite below freezing temperatures, thousands headed to Eagle River this weekend for the 50th anniversary of the Amsoil World Snowmobile Championships. Fans say braving the cold is all part of the experience. As drivers revved their engines, spectators fought the frigid temperatures. Full Story: WAOW

CRANDON - A Northwoods teenager stabbed a man early this morning and then hid from police. Forest County Sheriff's Deputies searched briefly for the 16-year-old in the Town of Lincoln, that's near Crandon. They arrested him on first degree attempted intentional homicide charges. Full Story: WJFW

PRESQUE ISLE - If you judge this book by its cover, you can guess that it's a mystery thriller set in the Northwoods. Presque Isle's Kevin McCullough is a DNR forester by day. But he's a fiction author by night. Full Story: WJFW

TOMAHAWK - Last summer two men died in a Tomahawk manufacturing plant. Now, an Upper Peninsula company is being punished for it. Dustin Hale and Dennis Gougeon were killed after being hit by fly ash at the Packaging Corporation of America plant in Tomahawk July 17th. Full Story: WJFW

Yesterday we told you that placing straw over your septic tank can keep it from freezing. Many of you must've listened. Today, a Rhinelander store sold through the bails of straw quickly. Farmers Feed Store has struggled to keep up with the demand for straw today. Homeowner's crowded in the store, hoping to buy straw for their septics. The owner ordered 5 loads of straw, including one for after hours. By day's end she sold about 500 bails of straw. Full Story: WJFW

EAGLE RIVER - That's thanks to the Advanced Welding Institute (AWI). The director of Klondike Days reached out to the school asking for a donation. The institute donated steel and labor. Full Story: WJFW

EAGLE RIVER - It seems like no one would choose unemployment in an economy like this. But that's exactly what 15 people did in Vilas County. The county is facing a 1.2 million budget short fall. Reducing the staff by 15 saved the county about 100 thousand dollars. Full Story: WJFW
