Local woodcarvers offer workshop

BOULDER JUNCTION - People who enjoy working with wood could show off their talent in Boulder Junction this week. A woodcarving workshop is being held at the town's community center.

The workshop is held every year by the Muskie Area Woodcarvers from Arbor Vitae. Everyone from beginners to experts could sign up, and everyone has an opportunity to learn many different kinds of woodworking in one spot.

Shawano thinks small in economic development role in Forest County

FOREST COUNTY - A new Forest County economic development leader wants to think small, instead of thinking big.

Gene Shawano Jr. just took over as President of the Forest County Economic Development Partnership.

He will help fill a void left when Executive Director Jim Schuessler and President RT Krueger each stepped down earlier this year.

New road signs put up, some older stop signs taken down

ANTIGO - You'll need to look out for some changes on the road in Langlade County. That's because the state Department of Transportation is putting up new signs on intersections along Highway 52. Some signs will also be taken down.

Certain stop signs have already been taken down. DOT traffic experts say they're just getting rid of redundant signs. They don't expect safety to be affected. But some drivers are concerned.

Wisconsin water supplies deal with two contaminants during 2013

WISCONSIN - Wisconsin keeps high standards for clean drinking water. On a yearly basis, they do a good job at meeting that standard, but during 2013, more water supplies were found with one of two contaminants.

One contaminant, nitrate was found in more than double the amount of water supplies during the year compared to 2012.
