Prison still possible for Antigo man sentenced on multiple counts

The threat of an extended term of incarceration will linger for an Antigo man who has already served time in the county jail while awaiting sentencing on a series of criminal offenses. A two year prison term was imposed but stayed in Langlade County Circuit Court Tuesday for 28-year old Corey L. Piper of 1224 Fifth Ave. Full Story: Antigo Daily Journal

Woman gets jail term for drug crime

An Iron River woman arrested here during a traffic stop last summer after the vehicle she was a passenger in was reported as stolen was sentenced for her crimes Tuesday in Langlade County Circuit Court. Amber L. Clements, 25, was ordered to serve 90 days in jail and was placed on probation for two years after pleading no contest to possessing narcotic drugs and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, both as party to a crime. Festivities Sunday to celebrate new barn facility at county fairgrounds

Langlade County’s new livestock pavilion, a sparkling homage to modern agriculture, will host a grand opening celebration on Sunday. The structure, which replaced the venerable but failing fairgrounds barn that dated to the 1920s, was constructed with some county insurance funds plus a substantial dose of community donations. Judge accepts pleas, sets bail bonds on new cases

Langlade County Judge Fred Kawalski presided over a busy courtroom session Monday as dozens of individuals made appearances on pending criminal matters. Jacob Leiterman, 19, of N1183 Old 26 Road and Kerrie Podhora, 19, of Eagle River entered pleas of not guilty to multiple counts filed in connection with a May 9 traffic stop in which drug-related items, including suspected “bath salts” were seized from the vehicle. Woman treated for wounds, 'bath salts' cited

A rural Antigo woman suspected of ingesting “bath salts” was taken into police custody Monday prior to her transport to the hospital for treatment of self-inflicted wounds. Witnesses told authorities the woman had been screaming at people who were not there and the paranoid behavior continued to the point of cutting herself across her neck, chest and arms.
