Details: Overview Our Network Engineers are members of our Technology and Infrastructure Services (T&IS) team within our Information Technology (IT) department. IT is an integrated group of teams whose basic objective is to provide information, data processing, communications, process enhancements, and systems to support the business and management activities of Sentry. The Network Engineers provide technical support for networking systems involving services, hardware, and software. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented with a strong fundamental background in a variety of networking technologies. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Provide technical support for a variety of network technologies as assigned Ensure a high level of availability of systems and services, monitoring existing hardware, software and systems performance as assigned, providing prompt response to issues Ability to work on-call on a rotational basis. This will include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. What You'll Do Support Multivendor network which provides connectivity for servers, mainframe, mass storage, wireless devices, load balancers, VPN users, PC’s, printers, copy machines, etc. in LAN and WAN environments. Give technical assistance to Application Programming, Architecture, end users, or Operations to solve software problems. Respond to system problems by analyzing the problem, formulating a solution, and changing or repairing the system to avoid costly interruption of service to users. Actively use Netscout tools to monitor high visibility applications and to assist in troubleshooting of application interruptions. Maintain knowledge of the Information Technology industry to effectively address the ongoing demands for enhancements to existing systems and services. This may include team or individual research and testing, reading, attending conferences, and participating in outside and in-house training programs What it Takes Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience. 2 or more years of related Network experience. Network certifications are a plus; Juniper networks, Cisco networks, F5, Aruba Wireless, Infoblox, Netscout, etc. Basic experience with systems hardware or software in areas such as routers, switches, firewalls, packet analysis tools, PC’s, server operating systems, storage, network protocols, mainframe systems, middleware, or other technologies beneficial. Ability to work on-call on a rotational basis. This will include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Strong technical, analytical and communication skills. Knowledge of general IT Security practices is beneficial. Knowledge of insurance industry standards is beneficial.
