Details: Summary To provide reproductive healthservices to clients in accordance with applicable state and federal laws andregulations and Planned Parenthood Standards, policies and procedures. Essential Functions Under the medical supervision and standing orders of the medical director of the clinic: Advance Practice Nurse will function in accordance to guidelines provided by the State Board of Medical Examiners and the Board of Nursing Examiners with regards to practicing in "sites serving medically underserved populations" and family planning clinics under contact with the Department of State Health Services. · Under approved standing orders the APN will: •Assess the physical and/or mental health status of clients through eliciting and recording complete health and social history. •Perform physical examinations, laboratory tests, and interpret information collected in health assessment and evaluate health care provided and modify as needed. This will include the necessary follow-up to provide information to patients about abnormal test results and referral follow up. •Provide general health supervision, counseling and education to women throughout the life cycle regarding health promotion maintenance and regarding individual high risk conditions. •Formulate and initiate health care plan. •Initiate and maintain health records (in accordance with requirements of PPFA, funding sources and state law). •Refer deviations from normal to the medical director of the clinic or the appropriate health care professional. •Recognize and utilize ability to maintain close contact with associate medical director and/or medical director as needed. •Provide group and individual health education teaching sessions (as requested by supervisor) •Performs Research duties as assigned to the health center by the Research Director/PI including but not limited to recruiting and referring clients to Research, screening clients for eligibility, obtaining informed consent, collecting study-related biologic specimens according to package insert or study specific instructions and documenting study data in ECW or paper as indicated. •Assist in surgical services as needed to include but not limited to; abortions, P.O.C.s, vasectomies, procedure room and recovery. •Provide all medical services required by protocol including but not limited to male STD exams, IM injections of antibiotics and other appropriate medications. •Ensure compliance with all PPFA and PPGC guidelines and approved standards.

Obtain and record patient weight and height as indicated. 9. Keep patient bed low, locked and side rails up when patient is in bed. 10. Check patient food trays for accuracy. Prepare patient’s environment for eating. Assists the patient in preparation to eat their meal, ie. Sitting up in bed or chair, washing the patient’s hands, cleaning the bedside table. Reports patient’s intake to nurse. Assists patient with feeding as necessary 11. Cross-trained to perform UNIT SECRETARY Duties (If applicable) 12. PERFORMS CLERICAL DUTIES RELATED TO PROCEDURES, AS THEY RELATE TO THE PATIENT CARE UNIT. 13. Checks food trays within 10 minutes of arrival to floor. (If appropriate for unit.) 14. Ensures that all charts are supplied with appropriate forms for documentation. 15. Relays messages to appropriate caregiver within 5-10 minutes of receiving message. 16. Prioritizes orders in the order entry system in a timely and accurate manner. 17. All reports are posted in a timely and accurate manner. 18. Ensures that diet/tube feeding changes are completed and credited every shift. 19. HELPS TO PROMOTE STEWARDSHIP OF RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT OF CARE 20. Returns all equipment to SPD ASAP and at least by the end of shift. 21. Assists with the monitoring of refrigerator / freezer logs. 22. Cleans refrigerator, microwave and other areas when indicated 23. Maintains the integrity of the Pyxis Machine and inventory through pushing the “take” button, 24. Is respectful of linen supplies and mindful of appropriate usage of pads, etc. 25. Protects the environment of the patient care area as well as the hospital campus from vandalism and litter. 26. Consistently uses appropriate “scripting’ as instructed when communicating with patients and their families. 27. Models service excellence in caring for patients providing “above and beyond” service consistently exceeding patients and families expectations. 28. Strives to anticipate the needs of patients and takes initiative to meets / exceed patient’s needs or wishes. 29. Responds to call light promptly. 30. Acts as a “team player” assisting co-workers regularly when time permits.
