Director, Talent Leadership

Details: The Director, Integrated Talent Leadership will be responsible to work in cooperation with key business & HR leadership to co-create, execute, lead, and evaluate the impact of key talent processes for CGB Enterprises’ Grain division, including (but not limited to) talent acquisition, performance management, talent development, succession planning, and retention optimization. In essence, the Director, ITL will be the talent “air traffic controller” for CGB’s largest division, comprised of more than 900 employees in more than 80 locations across the United States. This position reports directly to CGB's Vice President, Grain with a strong indirect reporting relationship to the VP, Human Resources. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively partnering with both Grain & HR leadership to evaluate & optimize the business’ existing talent processes and design new processes & practices to fill currently unmet needs, as well as evaluating the impact of all talent acquisition, management, and development programs. Solutions implemented must be scalable, allowing the successful candidate to – over time – assist other business within CGB to leverage this work to meet the ever-changing and growing demands of CGB’s operating groups. The Director, Integrated Talent Leadership will leverage existing best practices while assisting the organization in design & implementation of new, sustainable, strategically impactful talent best practices. Desired Skills and Experience CGB Enterprises, Inc. seeks an energetic, innovative candidate with significant experience in talent acquisition, performance management, and talent development. The successful candidate must be able to closely partner with business & HR leadership to identify, design, implement, and evaluate talent processes & practices that will optimize the Grain business’ talent processes. In addition, the Director, Integrated Talent Leadership must be an effective influencer, with the ability to effectively influence members of both the Grain and HR leadership teams – none of whom will report to the Director. Candidates must have BS/BA degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Psychology or a related field. A masters degree in business is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of combined HR and/or operations experience with at least 5 years of experience leading a talent acquisition, talent management, HR business unit (generalist), or organizational development function, with experience in two or more of these highly desirable. Operations experience is highly desired, especially in transportation, procurement, merchandising, or agricultural-based businesses. About this company CGB Enterprises Inc. (CGB) is a private US corporation with foreign ownership (Japanese). The Zen-Noh group and the Itochu group are each 50% owners of CGB. The owners consider CGB to be a long term, strategic investment and have jointly owned CGB for 20+ years. These businesses employ approximately 2,000 (+/-) people in 22 states. The grain operations constitute CGB’s core business, employing nearly 950 of the employees. Zen-Noh Grain Corporation (ZGC), which is one of CGB’s shareholders, occupies the same corporate office as CGB. ZGC employs approximately 225 people in its operations. The company’s primary business is the export grain business. ZGC is the 4th largest exporter of grains from the US. ZGC has operations in 3 states. The operations are centered at Convent, Louisiana where employees operate and manage one of the most modern and efficient export elevators in the world. Approximately 135 employees are employed at Convent working 24 hours per day, 365 days each year. There are currently no unions involved. Zen-Noh’s trading and administrative offices employ approximately 40 employees in Covington, LA., and they have 50 (+/-) employees in the Portland, OR and Pasco, WA areas. Both companies utilize a decentralized management structure led by division Vice Presidents or General Managers. The majority of CGB’s and ZGC’s corporate overhead functions are consolidated into one operation.

Must re-rail cars and provide estimate damages at derailment sites, make out billing repair cards in compliance with AAR office manual, identify AAR/FRA violations when present on railcars. This is accomplished by performing all or any combination of the following duties: Have ability to use cutting torch in all positions without damage to adjoining parts, and complete 3G welding qualification test for arc welding. Must insure that all company guidelines are met, and that all safety rules are followed when performing duties. In addition, must be able to read and understand blueprints, make car repairs in compliance with FRA & AAR rules and keep good repair records. Should be able to perform foreign car repairs, as well as fleet car repairs. Must operate fork lift and work closely with other departments at derailment sites.
