Duties and responsibilities: MACHINE HELPER (PACKOUT) Responsible for assisting the machine operator in running strands. Responsible for following all plant safety rules and regulations. Responsible for reading the following sections of ALL set up sheets: Labeling, Sampling, Operator QC, Packaging Code, Auxillary Equipment, and Miscellaneous Process Instructions. Responsible for labeling all offcut drums and boxes. Responsible for labeling all finished product containers. Responsible for labeling all post blend materials. Responsible for labeling all metal separator reject containers from the post blender metal separator. Responsible for locating and making all packout containers. Responsible for performing all tasks assigned by the process technician or plant management. Responsible for taking all quality samples, labeling the samples, getting the pellet count, getting the foreman’s signature, sealing the bag samples with a heat sealer, and logging the samples into the QC Lab. Responsible for informing Machine Operator of your location every time you leave the machine for ANY length of time. Responsible for taking all customer requested samples. Responsible for packing out, labeling, sealing, and weighing all finished products as specified by the set up sheet. Responsible for recording all containers packed out on a pack out form. Responsible for post blending all materials as specified by the set up sheet or plant management. Responsible for keeping all post blend feeders full. Responsible for daily cleaning of the QC station and the floor around the pelletizer, shakers, pack out scales and rollers, post blender, and pack out areas. Responsible for cleaning all downstream equipment during changeovers and product transitions. Responsible for notifying the fork lift driver when packaged materials need to be moved. Responsible for grinding all line scrap generated by machine if line scrap grinding is called for by the set up sheet. Responsible for cleaning post blender vacuum loader filters and cyclones once per shift. Responsible for cleaning post blender magnets every 4 hours and reporting any metal found to the process technician or foreman. Responsible for monitoring the containers of metal separator reject from the post blender metal separator so that full containers are replaced and that excessive rejections by the metal separator are reported to the operator and foreman. Responsible for taking all QC Lab extra samples from the sample racks and returning them to the machine for use as finished product. These samples are to be collected every time a new sample is logged into the QC Lab and at the very end of all runs before the last container is closed. Responsible for breaking down and disposing of all empty post blend containers. Responsible for reporting ALL non-working equipment to the operator and the foreman so that the equipment can be fixed as quickly as possible. Responsible for ensuring that post blenders are running on timers and not running in local. Responsible for ensuring that all finished product pellets from bins and post blenders are packed out in the last box so that good material is not thrown out at the end of the run. Responsible for ensuring that all shaker off-cut is taken to the rework feeder so that no off-cut remains at the end of the run. Responsible for inspecting post blend material while filling the post blend feeders to ensure that there is no contamination. If contamination is found, immediately report it to the operator and foreman. Responsible for reporting ALL pack out scale breakdowns to the operator and the foreman so that the scale is fixed immediately. Responsible for assisting the operator during machine start-ups and troubled processing to ensure that all purge and line scrap are gathered and placed in the correct boxes. Responsible for sealing a test bag (test bags MUST be full of material) on all bag sealers before sealing finished product bags. Test bags must be turned into QC for bag seal testing at the beginning of all bagging projects and at the beginning of each shift. Responsible for making sure all material is packed out at the correct pack out temperatures as specified by the set up sheet. Responsible for remaining at the extrusion line during periods of unexpected downtime and performing all tasks necessary to ensure the downtime is minimized. Necessary tasks can include: helping to fix the problem, following directions from operators, process technicians, or members of management, working with a maintenance mechanic, or simply cleaning the affected area. Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the chief operator. Duties and responsibilities: MACHINE HELPER (BATCH) Responsible for assisting the machine operator in running strands. Responsible for making all raw material pre-blends (fiberglass, IEI blending powder, etc.). Responsible for cross-referencing all batch and blend material names and codes with the batch sheet and set up sheet before making any batch or blend. Responsible for keeping all raw material feeders and vats (or drums) full. Responsible for cross-referencing all material names and codes with the set up sheet before filling any feeder. Responsible for notifying the foremen within 30 minutes of shift change if there are insufficient raw materials staged on the machine to finish the shift. Responsible for notifying forklift driver when raw materials need to be staged. Responsible for cleaning batch blender and refill tower vacuum loader filters and cyclones once per shift. Responsible for understanding and following all Standard Operating Procedures. Responsible for performing all tasks assigned by the process technician or plant management. Responsible for keeping all rework feeders full. Responsible for informing Machine Operator of your location every time you leave the machine for ANY length of time. Responsible for daily cleaning of the area behind the control panel, and the floor around the feeders, the batch blender, and raw material storage areas. Responsible for cleaning all upstream equipment during changeovers and product transitions. Responsible for cleaning batch blender magnets every 4 hours and reporting excessive metal found to the process technician or foreman. Responsible for using all material from a raw material container before starting on the next container. Responsible for ensuring that there is enough raw material already staged on the machine at the end of the shift so that the oncoming shift can make their first batch. Responsible for breaking down and disposing of all empty raw material and rework containers. Responsible for ensuring that there is enough of each raw material staged on the machine at the end of the shift so that the oncoming shift can make their first COMPLETE batch. Responsible for ensuring that there is one of the following at the end of the shift: either a minimum of 100# of batch in the batch blender and a FULL bin under the blender or an amount of batch already made of the next batch equal to the amount of material missing from the bin under the blender. Operation support for four paper machines, fiber process with includes 3 continuous digesters (3-Kamyr) and an OCC plant (recycle fiber from our internal converting plants and DLK from the open market) JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following. Assist the area Superintendent in overseeing (4) Shift Engineers supervising approximately 20 hourly employees in the operation of power and steam generation and distribution systems, and chemical recovery operations in a large pulp and paper mill. Accountable for area performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPI's) to include: safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, quality and efficiency. Takes necessary actions to ensure goals are achieved in a team environment by leading or promoting problem solving and development of countermeasures that will prevent future reoccurrence. Plan and control the generation and distribution of steam, generation and distribution of electrical power and chemical recovery operations against operating targets. The candidate will participate in night and weekend call rotations for the Pulp Mill area. This role actively leads 5S and lean manufacturing programs by ensuring goals are met within the department. Assist operations in the completion of all required paperwork, schedules, work orders, etc. Oversee and lead the area improvements / optimizations in Safety, Productivity, Quality, Cost, Variation Reduction and Critical to Quality Customer needs. Plans and controls production performance against operating targets. Provide strong leadership and teamwork to make a quality product while ensuring a safe and efficient operation. Participates with Maintenance / Operations to coordinate maintenance items and assist in planning monthly maintenance items.
