Construction Coordinator - Fixed Term

Details: Responsible for providing oversight to the management of construction activities for various transmission line and substation projects including verifying contract and technical requirements are being met by contractors, coordinating all on site activities between contractors and ATC functional groups, assuring that materials are available when needed to complete work, assuring that safe work practices are being utilized by contractors and ATC functional groups, and interfacing with customers on activities related to site work.. Provides direction to construction crews and other responsible personnel as required to complete projects safely, on time, on budget and as required by contract documents. This fixed-term position is expected to last up to 18 months and is benefit eligible. Essential Responsibilities: * Provides oversight of job site construction management to assure the projects are managed effectively and that ATC’s needs are being met. * Reviews and approves crew/contractor daily reports, and ensures charges for labor and materials are appropriate. Also ensures that charges are directed to the appropriate project accounts. * Understands and applies contracts to assure compliance with established terms and conditions. * Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors that may lead to accidents and performing safety audit. Observes contractor work practices and raise to the contractor’s attention any practices that appear to be non-compliant with OSHA safety requirements. * Participates on project teams to support contractor/crew walk downs, constructability reviews, material procurement and delivery expediting, and construction specification development. * Prepares regular written reports on contractor performance and project status at various stages of a project life. * Uses and assures the use of the accepted ATC Field Change Order Process for managing contractors when work scope or schedule changes. * Communicates and enforces company policies and procedures to responsible field personnel. * Monitors equipment and material usage on the job site. * Monitors adherence to ATC’s Construction Specifications and Environmental Construction Standards. * Interfaces with customers to ensure that construction activities in affected areas are communicated and understood. * Understands critical design requirements and continuously monitors construction quality to ensure compliance within established tolerances. * Ensures that barriers to construction progress are removed in a timely manner to support the construction schedule. * Provides direct oversight on jobs that are experiencing operational, safety, cost and/or schedule problems to support the scope, schedule and cost. * Oversees project completion requirements including demobilization of contractors/crews, recording of as-built information, and reparations to customers. * Outdoor work, travel and overnight stays will be required to support construction activities. * May be called upon to serve before, during, and after a Transmission Emergency Response Plan (TERP) event; such event may require performing functions that are outside the scope of your regular job. * Demonstrate compliance with ATC’s Code of Conduct, all company policies and procedures, and all laws and regulations that govern ATC * Perform other duties as assigned : Minimum Education * Associates degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Minimum Experience * At least 3 years of experience in transmission system construction coordination. * Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. * Knowledgeable of contract management, labor contracts, crew and contractor capabilities to construct substations and overhead/underground transmission lines. Tenure class is 0-4 months. ** A McLane Foodservice Driver must be able to work 3rd shift (up to 14 hours a day), spend 2-3 days a week in a hotel and be ok with touch freight (Drivers unload the trailer) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to: * Drive tractor, maneuvering into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure. * Inspect tractor-trailer for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition. * Inspect bill of lading and store keys for accuracy in off-hour delivery. Inspect trailer to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport of product. * Drive tractor-trailer to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises. * Maintain driver log (Manual or Peoplenet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions. * Unload trailer, delivering product into customer premises. * Perform any other duties as necessary. * Meet this position's physical demands. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: A teammate in this position must: * Be at least 21 years of age. * Possess a CDL Class A License; minimum driving experience of 1 years or 50,000 miles tractor-trailer experience (If less, additional training time will be required at the discretion of the RVP) or successful completion of the McLane Driver Training Program. * Not have more than two moving violations in past 3 years. * Not have been convicted of a DWI/DUI within the past 5 years in any vehicle, public or private. * Be able to read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading. * Be able to perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product. * Be able to use a Tractor-trailer, 2 wheel dolly, ramp, and on-board Peoplenet device. * Be able to lift maximum of 100 lbs, and frequent lifting/carrying of up to 50 lbs.
