We are currently seeking a Lean Operations Consultant for our our Dr. Comfort business in Mequon, WI. This is permanent, full-time position reporting to our Sr. Operations Manager. The Lean Operations Consultant develops and leads the CI (Continuous Improvement) process to ensure that the most effective elements of modern management and manufacturing philosophies are implemented to help drive performance in cost, losses, cycle times, quality and safety as well as allowing the business to handle a greater diversity of demand. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Reviews and improves business and production processes as well as support systems that will maintain and improve competitiveness. Coordinates efforts ensuring projects reflect overall organization priorities and needs. Leads, develops and helps execute breakthrough operational improvements to achieve step level changes in processes. Drives current projects, identifies future projects, clarifies responsibilities and accountabilities, and measures results. • Develops manages and owns the productivity goals for the plant’s annual plan. Establish annual, quarterly and monthly CI objectives. Aligns CI initiatives with the site strategic plan. Ensures development, tracking and use of key performance indicators to promote improved operational and business results • Works positively and supportively with business process stakeholders throughout the organization, helping to clarify objectives, identifying strategies, and implementing appropriate actions. Provides hands-on leadership, coaching and facilitation, working with project leaders and teams, holding kaizen and other intervention events, and supporting change. • Implements site idea generation & communication management processes. Ensures that objectives are passed down and understood - “Cascade CI objectives”. Tracks, prioritizes & recommends improvement teams / initiatives. • Action teams - selects, coaches and trains “champions” for each CI team project. Teaches and supports the teams in the use of problem solving and tracking tools. Performs regular and periodic validations of each CI project / initiative with each team. • Implementation - ensures the process is defined and there are flow charts with logical progressions and specific measurable goals. Develops CI meeting formats. Ensures shared leadership occurs – honored by team members and management. Ensures that accountability is present and commitments are made. Facilitates the interpretation of the cost and performance impact of each CI project / initiative. • Recognition and communication - ensures CI projects / initiatives have an effective recognition and celebration process. Visits other factories to learn and share “best practices”. Develop frequent CI site communication illustrating its value to improving key organizational performance objectives. Includes the CI process into new employees induction program. • Champions and institutionalizes a culture using kaizen, six sigma and lean management/manufacturing tools and philosophies, plus personal example and leadership. •* This Description is not a comprehensive list of all the position’s responsibilities.
