Identify and justify the utilization of any tools that may improve the time-to-market and quality of QA’s output. Document overall test procedures for all systems ensuring project supervisors and test analysts document procedures for commonly used testing techniques. Communicate daily with QA supervisors and analysts to ensure resources are being fully utilized and to prioritize projects according to urgency and/or business impact. Ensure analysis hours and testing hours are logged into the project system. Develop and maintain a closed loop mechanism that continuously determines the cause of incidents or post elevation errors and creates a permanent fix that over time reduces the number of incidents and errors. Focus on ways to automate the testing process via process and tools that will increase time to market, improve quality and contain headcount. Work collaboratively with other IT managers to ensure a positive departmental environment, a teamwork oriented culture, a can do attitude among associates and a one voice approach to company policy. Perform personnel management duties including interviewing, hiring, preparing staffing plans, scheduling, attendance tracking, time-off approvals, conflict resolution, preparing performance appraisals, assigning projects, recommending additional training, corrective counseling, promotions, salary reviews, terminations, etc. Delegation to direct reports is appropriate for many of these responsibilities where the Director would serve as a reviewer of their deliverables. Interface with the IT development groups and the user community to solve technical issues including troubleshooting and determining appropriate course of action to rectify problems. Actively participate in strategic planning with the IT management team. The Data/Information Architect designs, develops, implements, installs, and maintains enterprise level database systems in a multi server environment. Must be able to troubleshoot and correct database problems and to proactively maintain the health of database systems. Creates backup/recover utilities according to defined standards. Codes and implements stored procedures and triggers. Interface with the appropriate groups to ensure that database systems meet business requirements. Database and development subject matter expert with expertise in multiple platforms or deep expertise in a single platform. Oversee all aspects of database activities to insure database availability and performance. Identifies problems, anticipates effects across business communities, researches best practice alternatives, prepares presentations, drives solutions, tests to confirm, gains consensus from a broad business community, and implements customized solutions. Works on complex enterprise level applications with mission critical importance impacting the broader business community. Job Duties Design, data modeling and recommend data architecture by participating in the design reviews of conceptual, logical, and physical data models across different database platforms. Creates and oversees the development of the enterprise data model and enterprise data dictionary. Participates in the data governance processes for alignment of the data model to the business. Works with business systems analysts and data stewards for appropriate definitions. Works with developers to implement physical models for development. Works with platform administrators for operationalizing database applications. Develops data model deployment packages and processes. Research and recommend new technologies across platforms Define and enforce standards and strategies for security, database objects, and backup/recovery May develop and drive technical road map for data and development infrastructure In conjunction with Project Management, install, upgrade and configure complex database management system software that has broad business impact Implement security defining standards Validate that all physical database designs satisfy business requirements, and meet standards to database objects, data integrity, security, performance and recoverability. Monitor capacity and performance, troubleshooting and proactively resolving a wide variety of problems. Troubleshoot and drive solutions on a wide variety of complex problems impacting the broad business community. Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills: Bachelor's degree preferred. A Master's degree in related IT field or/and certification in related DBMS technology is a plus. Ten years of directly related experience. Strong project management skills. Advanced knowledge of database design to produce sound logical and physical data layers. Enterprise architecture design skills and knowledge of various multi layer systems such as OS platforms, network protocol, applications and data layers.
