Details: Medical Coder / Biller GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB Following AMA guidelines using CPT and ICD-9 codes, correctly code medical records. Input proper codes into PM system to reflect proper CMS 1500 claim form requirements. Check patient logs to ensure patient visits are accurately documented and coded/billed. Provide feedback to provider to ensure best practice in documentation. Monitor and audit medical records to verify coding remains compliant. Correctly read and assesses medical record documentation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (In order of importance) Follow Standard Procedures and AMA guidelines to accurately read and code medical records using ICD-9 and CPT codes. Input codes into PM software. Assess claims to verify billing Complete assigned systematic checks to ensure all medical records are properly coded and recorded in PM system Verify all systems are balanced at the end of the date of service Run and review assigned reports verifying imputed data is accurate Correct, both preemptively and post submission upon denial or rejection, coding errors and issues Work collaboratively with management to create and analyze tracking reports to evaluate trends Maintain a solid understanding of current medical billing rules, laws and regulations SCOPE Will work collaboratively with clinical, medical billing and coding staff, supporting clinic based staff as well as corporate staff based on client needs.
