Details: Our company is looking for an accountant to handle payroll and other general accounting duties at our corporate office. The qualified candidate will assist and report to our Controller, and perform various accounting, financial and payroll duties. Compile payroll data for multi-state employees such as hours worked, taxes, and insurance to be withheld, and employee identification numbers from time sheets and other records Review time reports from timekeeping system for completeness and accuracy and upload to payroll system Enter data into payroll system to compute wages and deductions Post data to payroll records Review wage computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll. Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records Record data concerning transfer of employees between departments Prorate expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions Responsible for specific areas of payroll activities for the processing of payroll and changes to payroll (W-4 changes, retro pay, direct deposit changes, voluntary deduction set ups and changes) Compile, maintain, and update various spreadsheets to verify payroll data properly balances to reports; responsible for quarterly and monthly reporting Audit garnishments on a bi-weekly basis to ensure that they are processed properly; process wage attachment letters for government or banking agencies Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages Prepare and issues paychecks Other duties as assigned
