Position Summary and Primary Objectives The Level 2 Engineer, NOC is one of the people in the technical support function. They are part of the team responsible for managing Incidents and Service Requests through to successful completion thereby ensuring client satisfaction. Main Duties / Key Accountability Incident diagnosis In collaboration with the L1 Engineer and Senior L2 Engineers, the Level 2 Engineer ensures that incident diagnosis is conducted so as to discover the full symptoms of the incident, determine what has gone wrong and how to correct it. They ensure the earliest diagnosis and analyses of incidents. Resolution and recovery Incidents and issues that cannot be resolved by more junior employees are escalated to the Level 2 Engineer, NOC and they are expected to take ownership and resolve. Where resolution is not possible, the Level 2 Engineer, NOC will work with the team and engage the Senior Level 2 Engineer, NOC and Platform Operations to further escalate these incidents. The Level 2 Engineer, NOC is responsible for ensuring that the necessary actions are agreed and taken, achieving appropriate resolution within the specified service level agreement. Behavioral skills Engineers set an example to the staff in terms of client focus and service orientation and they are expected to drive for client satisfaction. They act with integrity and display excellent client service orientation. As a good corporate citizen, the Level 2 Engineer, NOC is required to communicate with competence, operate well in a team environment and display attention to detail. Mentoring and Development The team of Level 2 Engineers, NOC will work together to ensure that teams that are more junior to them have the correct skills and training to perform the appropriate levels of technical activities. This will ensure that work procedures to perform functions are written and provided to Junior Level 1 and Level 1 Engineers by the Level 2 team. Key roles and responsibilities Act as a corporate citizen Ensure client satisfaction Ensure personal growth and development Compile relevant records Ensure resolution and recovery Receive and record incidents Provide telephonic support to clients Manage incident life cycle Provide inputs and guidance to continuously improve internal tools and methods The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: * Provision NFS/CIFS shares & iSCSI & FC SAN storage to servers * Diagnose, solve and provide root cause analysis for hardware and network related issues * Work with Cisco Enterprise level MDS or NX SAN switches * Evaluate and analyze systems, performance, issues and metrics in order to provide recommendations for service improvements. Use SAN and NAS management tools to analyze performance and identify bottlenecks or slowdowns and take appropriate action to resolve. * Identify existing and potential issues in overall architecture; Requirements: Education, Training and Experience Work Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience of working on production Storage environments.
