Essential Functions Strategy & Planning • Provide direction for the IT Department operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, organizing and administering ongoing support. • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers. • Provide direction in the growth and architectural design of the Windows/VMWare System technical infrastructure. Acquisition & Deployment • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT Windows/VMWare infrastructure and related IT systems. • Support/develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives related to the Windows/VMWare infrastrucure environments. • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provisioning. • Coordinate with network engineering, business application developers, and database administration functions to implement client desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet business application objectives. • Deploy servers, storage and related hardware/software as required. Operational Management • Administer/Handle all Windows/VMWare server, storage,operating systems and related hardware/software in support of all enterprise business applications. • Develop/support automation scripting efforts to speed deployments of infrastructure services. • Administer/Handle Windows/VMWare backup/recovery and disaster/recovery operations in support of all related business applications. • Support the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance as required. • Perform Windows/VMWare server, storage and operating system security audits as required. • Perform/test system backups/restores and disaster/recovery processing as required. • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve Windows/VMWare hardware and software problems on servers, storage and related technologies. Escalate incidents as necessary. • Practice hardware/software asset management, including maintenance of component inventory, licensing and related documentation and technical specifications information. • Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles. • Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance. • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications to management, user departments regarding Windows/VMWare initiatives, as required.
