Temporary Litigation Legal Secretary Job Responsibilities: Provide support to partners, associates and paralegals in cases filed in local, state and federal jurisdictions. Set up new clients in PCLAW and run conflict checks. Set up new case files and forward the retention contract and other documents to the client, as needed. Responsible for scheduling meetings and telephone conferences, creating witness lists, organizing evidence and other documents and for creating a reliable filing system for both paper and electronic documents. Responsible for preparing pleadings Prepare documents for court and oversee filing with the court, interfacing with the Firm’s court filing clerk. E-filing when necessary Preparing discovery documents and subpoenas Typing, sending and tracking subpoenas Scheduling depositions Creating discovery binders; indexing and filing discovery documents Organizing and filing case documents Assist in preparing for trial by typing and formatting pre-trial documents including preparing motions, briefs, subpoenas and witness lists. Coordinate witnesses, where applicable. Gathering and organizing exhibits. Creating, organizing and/or indexing trial binders Tracking deadlines and sending reminders to the legal team Cite-checking and proofreading briefs and legal documents Ensuring that documents are properly formatted in compliance with court rules Preparing, typing and formatting trial documents Coordinating the preparation of charts, graphs, and other courtroom visuals Scheduling couriers, court reporters and expert witnesses Organizing, filing and managing documents, exhibits and trial binders Coordinating travel arrangements for attorneys, witnesses, clients and others Responsible for entering the attorneys’ and paralegals’ time on each case into the firm’s time and billing system. Responsible for producing and sending monthly invoices to clients and for following up on late payments. Responsible for maintaining attorney calendars and court docketing, in order to track case deadlines. Maintain correspondence files with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel and others. Routing of correspondence, reports and legal documents to applicable parties, as needed. Creation of spreadsheets to track costs, exhibits and other information. Must prepare attorney expense reports. Organizing client conferences and attorney meetings Maintain the attorney’s calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, depositions and travel. Requirements: Regarding education, a four year college degree is strongly preferred, but not required. Other credentials and certifications a plus. At least five years of experience assisting attorneys in litigation Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and time and billing software; familiarity with Microsoft Office suite. Must be able to transcribe dictation using a Dictaphone. Knowledge of local, state and federal court litigation documentation and filing procedures. E-filing experience. Case Manager - Southern California

IPC's physicians and affiliated providers manage the care of hospitalized patients in coordination with primary care physicians and specialists. We have an immediate opening for a Case Manager to work in our SoCal Regional Office located in Riverside, CA The Case Manager has the primary responsibility of providing Case Management services to patients insured by Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) at Riverside Community Hospital (RCH) in Riverside, CA, following applicable State and Federal guidelines. Responsibilities : Submit timecard and reimbursement sheet to the Director of Operations according to IPC policy. Attend all required in-services and staff meetings as scheduled or review the minutes within one week of the training/meeting. Interview all newly admitted patients as well as patients on observation status to become familiar with their unique needs and build a care plan that anticipates discharge date and work toward removing obstacles to discharge. Round each morning on all cases to insure that orders have been written and carried out, especially on new admits, including sub-specialty consultants. Conduct interviews, collect and compile assessment data, social histories and/or diagnostic information necessary to establish or update case files. Insure each patient has a plan of care and that it is being adhered to. Obtain through job knowledge a comprehensive understanding of the IEHP approved formulary and be able to advise doctors on which drugs are approved versus not approved. Work with skilled nursing and other step down facilities to understand their capabilities and to evaluate potential of each facility to properly care for the patient and prevent a re-admission. Identify the follow-up provider and ensure the first post-hospital visit is scheduled before discharge. Review each working day the IEHP provided list of patients in house at the hospital and compare to physicians’ daily census to look for patients not on the physician’s service. Follow-up on the patient DC to SNF within three days after discharge to guard against re-admission risk. Provide an updated medication reconciliation list to patient/caregivers upon DC and insure that all DC instructions and medications are fully understood. When appropriate, involve pharmacy, social work and other support services to insure compliance with discharge plan of care. Make contact with the consumer and/or the consumer’s legal representative to establish a relationship to facilitate decision making regarding patient disposition and plan of care. Throughout the patients stay, maintain positive open and respectful communication with clients, families, providers and staff. Attend and/or facilitate family meetings and meetings between key stakeholders . Anticipate unique needs of the patient upon discharge and work toward insuring that all discharge medications are approved by the health plan and available to the patient. Act as an advocate to client in exercising his/her citizen rights. Facilitate review of major life decisions with client or designated guardian/conservator. Document all activity performed on behalf of the client in the client’s case progress notes. Provide referrals to needed supportive services. Conduct tours and complete necessary applications as needed. Access phone messages daily during every working day and be available by phone/page during working hours. Change voice message announcement to indicate availability each working day. Work 5 days per week, preferable Tuesday to Saturday or other schedule to include one or two weekend days in work week. Case manager will have direct supervision provided by a MD hospitalist. Obtain necessary CEU’s to maintain professional licensure status. Initiate and obtain training needed to meet the specific needs of clients assigned and to insure that all applicable rules and regulations are understood and adhered to.
