Job Responsibilities Definition of the maintenance strategy: in or outsourcing definition, partner selection and negotiation for outsourcing and subcontracting, application of global maintenance policies Definition of the optimal organizational structure: required roles and optimal staffing levels both in terms of support staff as well as mechanics. Ensure effective planning methods for manpower and equipment Management of human resources: promotions, performance tracking vs. standards, pay and incentive scheme definition, training programs etc. Management of the customer: negotiation of SLA, consulting on equipment replacement/ reallocation, problem management, periodic performance reviews, overall responsibility on customer billing etc. P&L responsibility for assigned business unit. Details: Principal Scientist - Analytical Chemistry Category : Biotech/R&D/Science Location/City : IL - Lake Forest Id : 1327 Summary: The Principal Scientist, Analytical Chemistry for Pace Analytical Life Sciences (PLS) will be responsible for the development of the Life Sciences Medical Device service offerings within the Oakdale, MN laboratory. The Principal Scientist, Analytical Chemistry will assist in developing, and will be primarily responsible for, implementing the strategic and tactical plan for the development of the Medical Device Chemistry business unit with the support from management, key personnel, the sales and marketing team, and the PLS quality and operational senior leadership team. NOTE: This position is located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area. To achieve the goals for the business unit, the Principal Scientist will actively participate in bench level activities such as performing analyses on the Q-TOF LC/MS, guide departmental laboratory operations, and assure that the quality systems are implemented and followed. The Principal Scientist will also have the opportunity participate in presenting at various trade/industry events and will author papers supporting the PLS approach to Chemical Characterization in accordance with ISO 10993-18:2005 Biological evaluation of medical devices Part 18: Chemical Characterization of Materials. The Principal Scientist, Analytical Chemistry is an operational position that reports into the site General Manager, or designee as appropriate. Responsibilities: Perform Q-TOF LC/MS development, validation, and routine analysis. Train and mentor staff members on the operation, interpretation and applications of the Q-TOF LC/MS as well as other mass spectrometry instrumentation. Collaborate with the staff members with in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry groups to help round out the PLS Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Extractable/Leachable Program, focusing on the advancement of the identification (Q-TOF LC/MS) of extractable substances. Take the lead in the identification and characterization of unknown degradation products and process impurities in API synthesis, pharmaceutical formulation/process development samples, and medical device extracts. Author technical documents including, but not limited to, Project Requirements, Methods, Method Transfers, Validation Protocols, Stability Protocols, and Specifications. Prepare narrative reports for complex projects. Assess new projects, participate in project kickoff meetings, participate in internal project meetings, and support the quoting staff in preparation of quotes and bids for prospective clients. Supervise projects and coordinate with management to provide guidance of personnel, quality of services, technical competence, productivity and technical expansion of the group. Collaborate with existing staff and sales and marketing to establish the PLS approach to Chemical Characterization in accordance with ISO 10993-18:2005 Biological evaluation of medical devices Part 18: Chemical Characterization of Materials. Collaborate with the Director of Quality Assurance to develop the appropriate GLP procedures required to support ISO 10993-18:2005 Biological evaluation of medical devices Part 18: Chemical Characterization of Materials. Collaborate with the Director of Quality Assurance to maintain the existing GMP and ISO 17025 Quality Management Systems as they relate to ISO 10993-18:2005 Biological evaluation of medical devices Part 18: Chemical Characterization of Materials.
