Details: Job Summary: Individuals serving in the position of Imaging Technologist at the Albany Area Hospital and Clinic are responsible for the production of quality radiographs in the areas of diagnostic and computerized tomography (CT) of various portions of the body to assist the medical practitioner in detection of illness, disease, or injury to body parts. The technologist performs the imaging tests following approved policies and procedures; performs quality control and assurance and preventative maintenance. The technologist should be capable of working independently as well as in an interdepartmental setting. Procedural assessment inquiries should be directed to the Imaging specialist, manager and/or radiologist as appropriate. The technologist should be able to perform quality EKG’s and pulmonary function testing. Essential Functions: Operates equipment, with competence and proficiency, in various locations including (but not limited to) clinics, emergency room, special procedures room, surgery, portables, C-arms, fluoroscopy and tomography in performing radiological exams, procedures and/or special procedures; follows department protocols to ensure that results are consistent; explains procedures to patients and responds to questions. Delivers patient care for all age groups while using diagnostic imaging equipment; acts as a liaison between the patient and the radiologist. Utilizes equipment/accessories and employs techniques/procedures to comfort and protect the patient, self and others from unnecessary radiation; may participate in the ordering and inventorying of equipment and supplies. Regularly performs basic nursing functions in regard to patient care; responds to emergency situations consistent with scope of authority; documents patient chart with pertinent information; advises nursing floor of any significant change in patient’s condition while in Diagnostic Imaging.
