An Accreditation Officer acts as a subject matter expert for various ISO standards, A2LA requirements, government regulations, and other applicable policies and procedures. As such, this position primarily involves facilitation of all aspects of the accreditation process for accredited laboratories. Daily activities may include, but are not limited to: Acting as a point of contact (via phone, email, and other written correspondences) for laboratories undergoing accreditation – new and renewal laboratories; also handles technical and routine inquiries for assigned laboratories in between accreditation periods. Facilitating every phase of the accreditation process with a laboratory, including application review, assessor assignment, report review, corrective action resolution, and final accreditation. Processing other accreditation-related activities, such as annual reviews, surveillance assessments, scope expansions and interim assessments. Reviewing and auditing information submitted by the lab, such as deficiency reports, root cause analysis, and corrective action. Making a recommendation to accredit or not to accredit an organization based on information collected throughout the accreditation process. Maintain currency of data, records, and other information for accredited laboratories and those seeking accreditation. This position includes close interaction with testing or calibration laboratories. There is no hands-on technical work; however, travel to laboratories will occur.
