CEC seeks to hire an individual for the position of Environmental Process Engineer to work at its facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a full-time, forty hour per week position. Candidates must have a U.S. Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or a related field, or the foreign equivalent. The position also requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience as an environmental engineer providing process engineering design and operation in the areas of industrial wastewater treatment and groundwater remediation. Experience must include: performing regulatory compliance reviews and evaluations for the management of solid waste, hazardous waste, wastewater discharges, and air emissions, including the preparation of SPCC plans and compliance audits; performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Transaction Screens for Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act due-diligence pre-acquisition transactions; and developing designs and reports utilizing AutoCad, analytical instruments and equipment necessary for bench tests, pilot tests, and process control of systems including spectrophotometers, gas chromatograph and microscopic analysis of water, and wastewater and associated sludges. Must have Professional Engineer, Certified Hazardous Material Manager and North Carolina Grade 2 physical/chemical operator license certifications. Duties include: (i) direct involvement in the study, design, and construction phase of projects involving industrial water and wastewater systems; (ii) develop and provide innovative engineering solutions within a wide range of treatment technologies, including physical/chemical and biological treatment; (iii) support activities within the Charlotte treatability laboratory and use that data to provide treatment systems that exceed client expectations; (iv) perform regulatory compliance reviews and evaluations for the management of solid waste, hazardous waste, wastewater discharges, and air emissions including the preparation of SPCC plans and compliance audits at facilities as part of due diligence review during mergers and acquisitions; (v) perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Transaction Screens for Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act due-diligence pre-acquisition transactions; (vi) engage in oversight and execution of field activities, including sampling, field testing, treatability tests and the application of chemical and biological nutrients to enhance in-situ remedial system operation; (vii) supervise, coordinate, and review work by less experienced engineers and drafters; and (viii) provide technical contributions to proposal efforts. Directs and supervises employees. Determine the adequacy and adjust inventory levels of all goods and supplies necessary of the operation of the donor center. Compile and submit orders to vendors to meet determined inventory levels. Assure center employees maintain the facility in a neat and clean condition and all equipment is kept in good working order. Responsible for freezer management, including overseeing plasma shipments and equipment failures. Required to answer all freezer alarms and deal with them appropriately. Construct and submit timely and accurate reports on a daily/weekly/monthly or as required basis. Develop and implement active donor recruitment advertising campaigns to improve production levels. Maintains thorough familiarity and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved Standard Operating Procedures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP). Direct key personnel in donor selection, plasma collection and all manufacturing records to maintain the highest production standards in accordance with state and federal regulations, U.S. Food and DruAdministration (FDA)-approved Standard Operating Procedures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and Current Good Builds rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction with the center to support long-term donation. Control center donor funds and ensure that all financial records are accurate and in order. Keep Center Manager informed of any irregularities within the center and provide action plans to improve and correct center deficiencies. Minimize center liability through constant risk management review. Investigates all unsafe situations and Situations/complaints. Develops and implements required corrective actions. Directs and monitors the performance of outside vendors. Review and monitor special projects for accuracy and timely completion.
