Two hurt in two motorcycle crash

LINCOLN COUNTY - Lincoln County deputies think a motorcycle crashed into another motorcycle after trying to avoid hitting a group of deer. The accident happened on State Highway 17 near Gross Lane around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Witnesses told deputies two motorcycles were traveling together southbound on State Highway 17 when the lead driver saw a group of deer standing next to the road.

Celebrating, learning about northern Wisconsin forests

EAGLE RIVER - Trees For Tomorrow in Eagle River wants more people to understand the importance of the forest. That's why the school held a celebration of all that the forest has to offer at Forest Fest on Saturday.

People got the chance to see different logging demonstrations, make paper, and learn about the different forests in northern Wisconsin.

County's first homeless shelter needs a lot of costly renovations before opening its doors

TOMAHAWK - Volunteers in Tomahawk want to open up Lincoln County's first homeless shelter as soon as possible. That's because homeless people don't have anywhere to live if they want to stay within the county.

Our Sister's House needs a lot of work before it can become a shelter and the renovations are expensive.

UPDATE: Incredible video & 911 call sheds light on Marinette County police chase & shooting

MARINETTE COUNTY - New dash cam video from a police chase in Marinette County last Thursday afternoon shows just how dangerous the situation was for drivers on the road. 43-year-old Robb DeGroot of Green Bay was crossing lanes into traffic and also shooting at other cars along the way.

Audio released by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office shows the confusion and fear from drivers getting shot at by DeGroot.

Clean Sweep event give people opportunity to get rid of hazardous chemicals

ANTIGO - It can get tricky to get rid of some chemicals safely. That's why Langlade County conservationists want people to bring their chemical products to the Highway Department Shop on Saturday.

People can get rid of all pesticides, insecticides, and chemical products at the Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep. It's free for all households and farmers.

Neighboring businesses hope to benefit from opening of Dunkin' Donuts

RHINELANDER - A Dunkin Donuts will open soon in Rhinelander. Plenty of people are excited for the new restaurant, but businesses nearby also hope to benefit from the new eatery.

Dunkin' Donuts plans to open next Tuesday on Lincoln Street across the street from Home Depot. Friday was a test day for the company.

Girl, 12, not competent for trial in stabbing

WAUKESHA - One of two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls charged as an adult with stabbing a classmate to please a fictional online horror character has been found mentally unable to stand trial.

A judge declared the girl incompetent Friday and ordered her committed for treatment. Two doctors who examined the girl had submitted reports saying they didn't think she was competent.

Successful pea harvest despite cool Spring temperatures

ANTIGO - A slow and shaky start to the summer growing season didn't hurt some farmers in Langlade County. That's because cooler temperatures can actually help some crops like peas.

Some farmers just finished harvesting their peas this week.It's the first vegetable crop of the season and farmers at Sunnydale Farms believe it was a great harvest.

They think cooler temperatures helped some of their crops stay healthy.

Kids channel inner artistic characters on stage

LAND O' LAKES - Kids in Land O' Lakes will play cartoon characters discussing their life during a play Friday. Organizers hope this helps them to show their artistic side.

You can expect to hear great sounds at Land O' Lakes Elementary School Friday. Kids from ages 6 to 14 have been learning about the art of performance this summer. They'll play cartoon characters discussing their life on a talk show.

More specialty food stores in northcentral Wisconsin

NORTHWOODS - It seems more all-natural and specialty food stores are popping up around the Northwoods. Antigo and Three Lakes welcomed new all-natural and specialty food stores this year. And last week, Eagle River welcomed one, as well.

"We were painstaking about finding things that you cannot find at other shops here in the Eagle River area," said Homeward Bound Specialty Foods owner Patti Katz Black.

Family gets new house

ANTIGO - Just a few months ago, the Moore Family was looking for a new affordable home. They filled out paperwork with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter in Langlade County and were told yes.

"We look for a number of things; we look for an identified need, and the need for housing if the current housing is not serving the family's needs," said Langlade Habitat for Humanity President Paul Grinde.
