Job Description Responsible for the design, evaluation, and implementation of new processes, process improvements, or projects to support manufacturing processes. Serves as a subject matter expert for manufacturing processes and capital asset acquisition, with a specialty in welding. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides cost estimates, capability estimates, and production recommendations for new products. Provides recommendations on where and how a product should be made using corporate resources. Manages capital acquisition projects from process definition through equipment installation, by working with vendors and Franklin Electric manufacturing facilities. Provides advanced technical support for welding equipment. Serves as a subject matter expert for assigned manufacturing processes. Provides high-level technical analysis. Develops welding processes, and purchases process equipment. Purchases welding equipment, develops process parameters performs initial set-up, and troubleshoots the equipment. Performs training for using and troubleshooting equipment. Develops concepts and designs new processes. Manages existing process improvement projects. Provides engineering support for existing manufacturing processes when needed. Provides qualifications for new/alternate vendors, components, and tooling. Validates process design via sampling procedures. Performs process cost analysis. Purchases major capital equipment and systems for new processes implementation, as well as, current process maintenance and replacement. Participates in a cross-functional and cross-cultural team environment. Acts as a technical resource and a mentor for less experienced engineers. Travels approximately 50% of the time, which includes international travel. Performs other related duties as required or assigned. Skills and Abilities Demonstrates good mechanical aptitude, and ability to apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Reads and interprets drawings. Ability to do fixture and tooling design and special machine design. Understands safety and environmental laws and regulations.
