NOC Engineer - IP - Tier 2

Details: This is a full time opportunity located in Seattle, WA and/or Atlanta, GA Overview: The NOC Engineer – IP Services position is a second tier engineering position in the Internap Network Operations Center (NOC) that is directly responsible for supporting Internap customers and the Internap IP network. Position is responsible for monitoring the Internap network as well as responding to customer outages and requests in a prompt and professional manner. This position involves direct customer support and interaction, so requires outstanding customer service and communication skills, as well as the ability to apply technical and troubleshooting skills towards the resolution of customer tickets. The position is also responsible for handling escalations from tier one engineers as well as taking part in the training and mentorship of less experienced engineers in the NOC. Responsibilities: Troubleshoot and resolve customer and upstream provider routing issues in a timely and efficient manner through the utilization of various networking analysis tools and Internap systems. Support of a complex network environment including problem solving, ability to take ownership of unfamiliar tasks and problems and see through to completion. Coordinate and fulfill all new customer turn ups including configuration, routing updates and other network implementations such as BGP routing, filter list application, routing protocol conversions, etc. Coordinate and fulfill all change management requests from customers including configuration changes, routing updates and other network changes such as BGP route additions, filter list changes, routing protocol conversions, etc. Troubleshoot and resolve network security incidents including Denial of Service attacks towards Internap and its customers through traffic/packet analysis and the use of Access Control Lists (ACL) and null routing Handle customer requests for IP allocation, including adherence to Internap’s Number Policy and customer’s technical justification for additional IP space. Investigate customer concerns and resolve configuration issues across a variety of Internap’s product lines. Act as escalation point for issues escalated from the Tier I NOC Support Engineering team. The NOC Engineer also providers mentoring, training and coaching to Tier 1 NOC engineers Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues on the Internap IP network and with Managed Customer Premise Equipment (MCPE) Utilize the Internap trouble ticketing system to track ongoing reports and service requests through to completion Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. The NOC operates on a 24x7x365 basis and engineers will be required to work a variety of shifts as determined by the business needs and NOC Management.
