Prepare annual operations and maintenance and capital budget estimates for work group; monitor budget performance. Assist the Public Works Director with long range strategic planning. Purchases equipment and vehicles. Supervises maintenance, recommends equipment and vehicle replacement. Supervise, train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel answer questions, explain projects, and provide systematic support to ensure assigned personnel are effective in completing their work. Take measures to ensure a safe, productive working environment for all staff consistent with City rules, procedures and guidelines. As a member of the Department of Public Works management team, participate in policy making and establishment of overall direction for the Water Division. Become knowledgeable about applicable State and Federal laws and regulations and assess their impact on the Water Division. Prepare or review correspondence, performance evaluations, reports, specifications, work orders, project estimates, requisitions, and other items related to projects. Develop an Operational Emergency Plan to minimize outage and ensure continued water quality. Attend various meetings as required; remain current on developments in areas applicable to the Division. Develop and implement innovative solutions to recurring problems in the Division. Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Collects water samples from various locations for testing. Operates water treatment equipment when staff shortages exist. Operates emergency generators and other equipment. Checks off-hours alarms/emergency calls. Measures well water levels. Performs various duties and special projects as assigned.
