Accounts Payable Assistant

Details: Job is located in Waukesha, WI. Leading manufacturer west of Milwaukee is looking to hire an Accounts Payable Assistant. Position is open due to recent company spin off. The intent is for the company to hire this person permanently, but company needs to secure funding first. This is expected to happen, but timing is the question. Until they can guarantee funding, this person will be a contract employee. Contract employees are treated very well by this company and taken care of. There is room for growth in this position, so client is looking for someone who is energetic and willing to put in the hard work. Also might be involved with setting up company's accounting system. Might be a great opportunity for a new accounting grad! Looking for at least 1 year of prior Accounts Payable experience. Responsibilities Match incoming vendor invoices with purchase order/receiving reports and/or packing slips. Code non-PO purchases to the general ledger and obtain appropriate level of approval. Enter and post invoices to the company’s ERP system. Manage annual 1099 preparation and filing Process weekly check runs for payment of vendor invoices. Determine need for vendor additions and updates to existing profiles. Set up new vendors and secure W-9s. Reconcile various vendor statements and invoice balance forwards to information in the ERP system. Field vendor calls and handle such inquiries through to completion. Review check payments for accuracy, include any necessary remittances, and package checks for mail/distribution. Organize, file, and maintain vendor invoices and related records. Coordinate workflow to ensure timely preparation of vouchers, posting, and payment. Perform other general accounts payable functions as requested. Assist in monthly close process. All other related duties as assigned.
