Details: A Merchandise Buyer manages new and existing merchandising programs for various categories. This position actively engages in supplier negotiations, advertising layout, competition checks, plan-o-gramming, assortment planning, category implementation at store level and other tasks in order to optimize sales, inventory turnover, cost controls and profit. A Merchandise Buyer is responsible to: Select appropriate merchandise for the specific categories assigned and provide recommendations to improve the category, maximize the potential for increased sales and/or profitability.
