Details: The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for overseeing the safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely dispatch of goods. He or she shall ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock. He or she shall plan the arrangement of goods within the warehouse and organize special requirements for certain stock, such as fragile products. He or she shall ensure productivity targets are met and maintain computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems. Specific responsibilities may include:  Supervise warehouse personnel.  Oversee stock control and order processing.  Ensure quality, delivery, and budget objectives are met.  Fulfill objectives and directions from the Contracts Administrator and Purchasing Agent.  Respond to customer communication via email, fax, and telephone.  Track all incoming and outgoing shipments.  Receive, unload, and perform basic inspections on incoming product as required.  Log all incoming shipments, manually or using a computer.  Inform Contracts Administrator and Purchasing Agent of incoming shipments.  Prepare shipping documents.  Perform inspections of containers before loading material per instructions.  Load material into containers.  Check the contents/paperwork of all incoming and outgoing shipments for correctness.  Track the receipt, storage, and location of all consignment stock.  Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, etc  Ensure all labeling and markings are correct on stored items.  Complete stock checks and complete physical inventory, in association with the Contracts Administrator and Purchasing Agent.  Keep stock control systems up to date and plan future capacity requirements.  Ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.  Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.  Clean and maintain all warehouse equipment.  Perform weekly inspections of forklift equipment.  Pick-up and deliver shipments when necessary.  Assist in shipment of “hot-shot" deliveries.  Perform general building maintenance (change light bulbs, paint, move/assemble furniture, etc.).
