Lead Sanitation Technician

Details: This is a backup supervisor role to the Sanitation Supervisor, to help fill in as the shift leader whenever the supervisor is out. 80% of this job is hands-on, out on the floor. 20% of the job is acting as a lead/back-up supervisor. Main duties (80% of the job): * Take apart machines, equipment, and conveyor lines, and clean them down for production change overs. * Work with CIP (Clean-In-Place) equipment and systems to flush out tanks, piping, and hoses. * Ensure processing equipment is sterile and any possible bacterial contamination is eliminated. * Work with QA team on pre-operational swabbing and review the results of swabs. Back-up Supervisor duties (20% of the job): * Oversee SDS log. Track the application/usage of chemicals, and safety protocols. * Receive HACCP certification (Good Foods Group will pay for the weekend course). * Supervise the sanitation of food processing equipment. * Supervise team of production employees. Work hands-on alongside the sanitation crew. Coordinate the master sanitation schedule. * Track inventory on parts for machines. Keep a log of equipment, parts, pieces, and anything that needed to be replaced when the sanitation crew was cleaning down the machines. * Keep a daily log of damage reports for equipment. * Report any safety issues to maintenance departement. * Work with the QA team to go through a pre-operational walk-through, review a checklist, and review the cleanliness of equipment. * Write reports of completed pre-operational checks. * Ensure production employees are wearing PPE correctly and following GMPs. * Work very closely with the Quality Control Lab, QA team, Production Manager, and operations/management. Provide effective leadership coordination for asset teams on multiple shift operations. 2. Maintain a positive work environment to promote safety, housekeeping, and human relations. 3. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, corporate policies and facility ICPs, LCPs and N&Us. Scope: The incumbent reports to the Operations Team Manager. Incumbent has broad operations responsibility for two to three converting assets used for producing finished consumer goods.. The position provides leadership for a team which typically includes members from one or two functional areas. The main challenge of this position is to effectively work with teams in the completion of assigned duties. Principal Accountabilities: 1. Lead the safety efforts of the operations team to prevent injuries and illnesses to NCSF employees. This leadership should visibly demonstrate in action, and not merely in word, that safety is a core value of the organization and should include: knowing and enforcing safety rules, ensuring that planned inspections are performed, auditing team members’ safe behaviors, leading accident investigations, and leading department safety meetings, conducting timely ECAPS investigations and follow-up on corrective action items. 2. Communicate managing philosophies and objectives to employees to ensure their participation in the achievement of facility and asset team objectives. Provide hourly performance feedback and document annually 3. Provide leadership in the event of a facility emergency. Assess the situation and ensure appropriate measures are being implemented to control the emergency. In crisis situations, initiate the appropriate contact with upper management. 4. Address performance issues and assist in the resolution of conflict, encouraging resolution to occur at the lowest organizational level. 5. Maintain high employee morale through positive motivation and leadership and strict adherence to facility norms and understandings, policies and guidelines. 6. Support the training and development of employees to ensure continued plant growth, effective operation and to minimize need for direct supervision. 7. Facilitate on shift loss investigations and NCSF Loss Control Policies. 8. Audit production and quality of operating departments on shift to ensure production of acceptable product. 9. Utilizing SAP and PIPEMAP, monitor and maintain production inventories, complete month-end reconciliation, and audit department costs. 10. Review departmental costs for items outside of budgeted spending. 11. Work with the TALCM best practices for identifying and controlling work orders and assigning appropriate maintenance personnel. 12. Facilitate scheduling of production employees, equipment operation, and material flow to ensure attainment of customer service. 13. Ensure that established internal control policies, instructions, or procedures are followed as they apply to this position. 14. Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates and others who have need to know. Be informative without being obtrusive or vexatious. Communicate in a way that is timely, yet prompt; complete, yet concise; candid, yet accurate; and clear, yet responsive. 15. This position consists of maintaining equipment and performing advanced repairs on fleet consisting of backhoes, trenchers, air compressors and tractors. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include: Diagnose and repair complex issues on advanced hydraulics and drivetrain. Complete/or assist with transmission overhauls and engine repair. Perform preventative maintenance on engines, hydraulic components, electrical systems, and light body work. Deconstruct dash and other necessary areas to access and complete wiring. Reassemble. Clean as necessary. Verify accessories are in working condition prior to installation.
