DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinates, directs and manages all aspects of program operations. Makes and enforces decisions regarding the allocation of resources and delegates responsibility to assure quality patient care is keeping with legal, ethical, and other standards of performance. Prepares with supervisor the annual budget. Operates within the limits set in budget process or revises these as indicated by supervisor. Functions as a liaison between physicians and clinical staff. Interviews, hires, supervises personnel, taking corrective action when warranted. Monitors the educational needs of unit staff and provides staff development opportunities and/or in-service training programs. Revises and approves payroll. Develops and maintains relationship with referral sources through community education activities to ensure the financial success of the program. Has responsibility to coordinate marketing activities with the Community Liaison to ensure the financial success of the facility, participates in the development of plans, objectives and strategy. Consults with patients’ relatives, as necessary, for the purpose of solving complaints about patient care. Ensures continuity of care and the use of community resources. Serves as a resource for area agencies, regarding services available. Makes or ensures weekly contacts with referral agents while patient is hospitalized as evidenced by patient medical record. Provides feedback to supervisor on regular basis concerning opportunities to grow into new areas or expand current census limitations. Works with Community Liaisons to develop referral base.
