Details: Position Overview Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Control Engineer ’s primary responsibility is to lead sustainable line optimization for Gehl Food’s Operations by designing, implementing, and continuously improving machines that run safely, reliably, efficiently, and cost effectively so that they produce products that delight our customers. This is done by keeping the systems running, continuous improving the systems, preparing for replacement of aged equipment, and leading new business opportunities. Job Responsibilities Safety Leadership Training, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), mechanical & electrical safety, compliance, new machine approval, and existing machine audit and action Safety Participation Identify and complete corrective actions, near miss & accident investigation team, and safety observation tours Quality & Reliability Leadership Manage timed machine rebuild strategies, machine operation and maintenance simplification activities, maintain engineering standard document which educates machine suppliers on requirements for documentation and maintainability, and administer internal non-conforming material process Quality & Reliability Participation Correspondence with process authorities, supplier quality audits, and validation and challenge testing Performance & Efficiency Leadership Engineering level problem solving, acting as lead technical liaison between Gehl Foods and suppliers, and problem solving training, coaching, and review Performance & Efficiency Participation Providing maintenance support as needed to keep downtime to a minimum and work on production floor with Operators and Leads to solve problems utilizing the Factory MES metric tool Costs & Projects Leadership Define, scope, and deliver cost savings initiatives, collaborate with suppliers for machine upgrades and corrective actions, create scope of work for projects, and project manage internal engineering projects Costs & Projects Participation Customer-based projects and pilot reviews Functions as a change agent to help guide and cultivate a continuous improvement culture in both the department and throughout the organization. Support Manufacturing through a scheduled after-hours on call program.
