SUMMARY The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading global supply chain strategy development and deployment for a set of commodities across the Clients enterprise-wide spend base. Works in concert with supply chain leadership at the plant location as well as Corporate Supply Chain – Enterprise wide to deliver year over year improvements in material cost, quality, availability and inventory by performing the following duties. Essential Responsibilities and Tasks include the following: Sourcing Strategy Development • Design and implement commodity strategies to attain year over year material cost reduction (PPV/MPV), material quality/delivery improvements and inventory reduction targets through the use of appropriate supply chain tools. • Strategic Sourcing - Lead the strategic sourcing process including RFQ development, quotation reviews (traditional and on-line reverse auctions), supplier/contract negotiations and supplier development. Lead sourcing meetings with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing etc. to reach consensus on sourcing. • Partner with internal customers to align on priorities, strategies to drive scale, global alignment, define and execute against strategic sourcing goals. • Maintains information regarding industry and market trends and reports trend information needed to support recommendations and decisions. • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and adjusts sourcing plans based on the conditions. Time Allotted 25% Supplier Relationship Management • Supplier Development - Work with Engineering and Quality to develop new suppliers with systems to support quick development, low cost, and high Quality. • Supplier Kanbans/VMI - Work closely with the supplier base to and Quality to actively integrate the suppliers through the appropriate use of Kanbans, VMI and related tools. • Inventory Control – Work with Supplier Quality to develop and maintain an effective Supplier evaluation system including, but not limited to, arranging performance reviews with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to evaluate supplier performance; make recommendations to address issues; and to categorize improvement opportunities. Commodity Sourcing Lead commodity teams as required on the following processes: • Supplier Negotiations - Act as the lead negotiator with suppliers in specific commodities to deliver stated objectives. • Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) - Work closely with long term suppliers to manage this core supply base for productivity/cost down initiatives through the use of VA/VE tools. • Maintain a working knowledge of the world-class supply chain process to ensure that existing processes are targeted to attain excellence versus industry benchmarks. Time Allotted 25% Global Sourcing • Low Cost Country Sourcing - Lead Low cost country sourcing for the appropriate sub-commodities for year over year net cost reductions. • eCommerce - Lead the supply base in implementation of eCommerce tools to automate transactions and bring flexibility and transparency in the supply chain.
