Physical Distribution Manager
Details: This position reports to the Plant Manager of the Rockdale facility and will be assigned to manage the supply chain process for effective execution of the physical and logistical processes. This position is responsible for managing the Warehouse Supervisor and two hourly reports. Ideally we are looking for a candidate with upward mobility to eventually join our corporate supply chain team or advance throughout the operations management realm. The Rockdale, Illinois plant manufactures perlite roof insulation board, which is a rigid insulation for built-up commercial roofs. They also cut tapered, edge and cant accessory products for providing slope for positive drainage of flat commercial roofs. The plant has 50 hourly associates and 10 salaried associates. We are currently seeking local candidates as this position does not offer a relocation package. Responsibilities: • Manage the cycle count program to ensure an accuracy level of 98%. • Partnership with customer service to ensure a 100% order fill rate on all customer shipments. • Manage the production planning process and ordering of raw and packaging materials to ensure customer needs are met. • Work with the Rockdale team to develop, manage and execute an effective physical distribution process. • Ensure accurate loading 100% of the time for customer shipments by becoming familiar with total product line so all orders are exact for the job. • Work to minimize waste by efficient inventory placement by working closely with shipping. • Establish appropriate metrics to measure results and drive appropriate behaviors. • Maintain proper labeling and identification forms for customers. • Be the liaison for working with other plants for transferring product. • Manage all short lead time commitments and changes. • Work with production team to respond promptly to inquiries and requests from customer service regarding production, inventory, availability or other related items.
