Details: The Automation Support Engineer is responsible for the installation of the Makino automated systems servicing Makino machining centers and other ancillary equipment. The automated systems utilize various automation products (robots, gantry systems, vision systems, marking systems, conveyance systems) to automate the flow of material through the Makino machining systems. The engineer will be responsible for the proper installation and startup of these systems at the customer location. The Automation Engineer is responsible for identifying and understanding our customers' automation requests. The Automation Engineer will define and align potential solutions by interviewing the customer to understand their detailed requirements, performing research for potential solutions that may align with their technical and budgetary needs, discuss with various suppliers and/or integrators. This resource will also create installation and floor layouts, with input and agreement from customer and suppliers, create formal proposals with guidance and input from Makino internal engineering groups, and then present to the customer. Execution and project management duties will not be included in this job responsibility. Support the sales organization in the presentation and discussion of machine quotations and proposed systems. Provide engineering support for the development, design, and implementation of EDM / Milling automation. Generate "Request for Quote" specifications to support the quotation of 3rd party equipment. Creation of system layout drawings in 2D CAD. Required Experience: BS Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent field experience. 3-5 years manufacturing or robotics industry experience, either by operating, servicing or applications support. Knowledge of automated manufacturing systems based on experience with the implementation of such systems. Basic mechanical and electrical skills and preferred knowledge of mechanics and electronics of CNC machines Proficient utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and documentation skills to support all duties.
