Title: Storage Engineer Terms : 12 month contract Target compensation $55-65 Location : Foster City, CA Target Start Date : TBD Company Size : 100-200 Industry : IT Infrastructure Job Requirements: *Architect and deploy storage solutions into new and existing environments. *Participate as the Infrastructure storage, server and virtualization delivery expert in a cross-functional team to support enterprise data center migration and relocation; execute storage, server and virtualization migration within the context of a relocation project *Adhere to client change management procedures and standards. *Perform storage, server and virtualization workload modeling and prediction for sizing and troubleshooting *Perform capacity planning and reporting to ensure efficient use of storage, servers and virtual environment. *Investigate server storage, server and virtual environment performance and utilization, identify problems and recommend / implement solutions. *Institute replication relationships and recovery environments. *Design, deploy and maintain infrastructure that supports application resilience via SRM or site to site HA. *Develop and present detailed technical documentation and knowledge transfer to client supporting staff *Perform project planning and definition in conjunction with Project Managers and a cross-functional team *Manage customer expectations throughout the project Qualifications: *A minimum of 8 to 10 years of IT experience *5+ years of Storage experience including hands-on project experience implementing and integrating storage technologies - carving out of LUNs, Thin Provisioning, site-to-site and DR replication (e.g.. SnapMirror and SnapVault). *5+ years as a VMware System Engineer *Experience in developing scalable policies and procedures, including system standards, capacity planning, and centralized management (experience within enterprise environments preferred *Hands on project experience implementing VMware infrastructure - VMware servers and VSphere; *Experience with VMware vSphere® Vmotion - shared storage networks, preparation of vMotion networks, live migration of VMs as well as automated migration based on predefined parameters *Experience using VMware vCenter™ Site Recovery Manager™ as a disaster recovery solution *Knowledge of Dell Blade/server and HP Blade/Proliant infrastructure *Broad experience with a variety of storage technologies including SAN and NAS storage platforms, iSCSI protocol as well as other networking technologies *Knowledge in advanced storage devices and concepts required, particularly focused on data migration strategies in a virtualized environment *Undergraduate degree in a computer science, engineering or related field and/or equivalent work experience required. *Experience supporting and/or managing data center relocation *Knowledge of NetApp Storage Management and IT management best practices *Experience in Clustered Data Ontap (cDOT) administration and migration from Data Ontap 7-mode *Experience with SnapMirror replication in conjunction with NetApp Cluster-Mode *Experience in multiple protocols to include CIFS, FCP, ISCSI and NFS *Capable of supporting multiple operating environments that include Windows 2003 and newer and RedHat Linux 5 and newer *Experience with backup administration technologies such as EMC Data Domain, Symantec NetBackup, Commvault; *Server Infrastructure knowledge and experience *Familiarity or experience in fundamentals of application development lifecycles and IT management *Familiar with consulting requirements and activities and having demonstrated ability as an internal or external consultant *Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver multiple, complex technical projects *Demonstrated ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences.
