Manage the relationship and serve as the primary Vendor contact between GC Private Brands assigned supply chain partners Serve as the manufacturing expert for the project team, determining long term supply chain requirements, technology needs, product platforms and quality assurance standards Provide feasibility assessments, technology planning, vendor requirements and supply chain planning throughout New Product Planning (NPP) Serves as the Project Manager for New Product Introductions (NPI) and is accountable for delivery of specified products on time, with required features, within cost targets Conduct vendor screening activities ensuring ongoing benchmarking and on-boarding of vendors who meet our criteria for both quality standards and manufacturing competencies Accountable for setting up new vendors across all GC IT and ERP systems; On-board vendors regarding GC policies, procedures and guidelines Accountable for the successful completion of regulatory compliance activities for both vendors and new products Plan, execute and report on all quality assurance measures through product development Responsible for vendor RFQs and new vendor builds across all GC IT and ERP systems Work with Enterprise Inventory Planning to monitor and resolve issues with purchase order confirmation, capacity and delivery challenges Work with Sourcing Operations to monitor and resolve outstanding vendor administration issues such as excessive defective allowances Work with International Logistics teams to resolve issues related to transportation, import regulations and duty, etc. Ensure customer service teams are prepared to support product launches regarding parts, warranty, and claims resolution Mentor Assistant Sourcing Managers to help develop their skills and grow their competencies Education and Experience 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Management, Sourcing Management, Project Management, Logistics Management or similar 8 to 10 years experience in a Sourcing/Supply Chain role Collaborative and self-motivated with excellent communication skills Experience working with Asian vendors desired, fluency in Mandarin Chinese highly preferred Strong attention to detail, time management and focus on problem-solving Excellent project management, negotiation skills General business, manufacturing and logistics acumen including manufacturing techniques and QA/QC standard best practices Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and familiarity with database and ERP systems BA or BS required with a major in Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred In connection with an application for employment and/or promotion with Guitar Center, Inc., investigative consumer reports, which may include credit reports, criminal history consistent with applicable federal and state laws, motor vehicle reports, employment records, educational background or other sources of information may be requested.
