Manages a patient’s airway and pulmonary status using current practice modalities. 6. Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, obtaining, ordering and administering medications, fluids, and ventilation support. 7. Discharges the patient from a post anesthesia care area and provides postanesthesia follow-up evaluation and care. Participates in patient post-op rounds and records pertinent information in progress note. 8. Implements acute and chronic pain management modalities. 9. Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques. 10. Identifies patient utilizing two (2) identifiers prior to induction, administration of medication and/or blood products. The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator demonstrates leadership through the role of advisor to the medical staff and administration in understanding and applying the standards that the medical staff must meet. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining all aspects of the credentialing function, including credentialing practitioners, facilities, and ancillary services both for initial appointment and re-appointment. The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator guides health plan leadership and medical staff through such functions such as credentials committee meetings. The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator is able to advise the medical staff leadership on matters of priority in an expeditious manner and can instruct them in the responsibilities of their positions with respect to credentialing and help bring them up to date on current issues involving regulatory agencies, clinical privileges, and standards of care. The Credentialing Coordinator should demonstrate strong organizational skills and assertiveness in problem solving. Nurtures a working relationship with physicians, nursing staff and other disciplines involved in the care of the patient/family MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Responsible for effective management of patient care delivery: Completes and documents assessment within period established by policy/procedure. Completes and documents reassessment of patient needs according to department standard. Initiates, updates and communicates an appropriate multi-disciplinary plan of care based in identified problems and/or patient needs Collaborate with patient/family/physician and other disciplines to coordinate the plan of care Evaluates patient response to care, revises plan of care as necessary and documents appropriately Administers and documents medications/treatments safely following Medication Administration Policy and Procedure Recognizes change or urgent situations in patient condition and intervenes appropriately. 2. Provides patient and/or family with information relative to treatment plan, diagnostic/surgical procedures, disease process, and care after discharge. Initiates collaboration and documents appropriate teaching, considering age, cultural and religious beliefs, and barriers to learning. Evaluates effectiveness of teaching and provides appropriate follow-up. 3. Provides leadership and direction in accordance with departmental goals and objectives. Delegates duties based on position and level of competence and the complexity of patient’s needs. 4. Performs Point of Care Testing within scope of licensure; accurately performs testing according to the approved procedure and limits testing to only those tests for which competency has been assessed and operator is deemed qualified by designated trainer. 5. Healthstream (HLC) modules completed by assigned date. 6. Complete Associate Self-evaluation and give to Supervisor by assigned date. 7. Attend 2 of the Associate Round Tables per fiscal year. 8. Maintain licensure or certification without lapse, if required for the position. 9. Maintain BCLS/ACLS certification, if required for the position.
