Details: Transaction Middleware Administrator and Automation Specialist Transaction Middleware Administrator and Automation Specialist - 6 Month Contract - Lincolnshire, IL POSITION PROFILE Among the world's top global human capital and management consulting firms supporting both internally developed applications, as well as, 3rd party applications. This position requires a motivated, articulate web technology administrator with both operational Web Server and Application Server support experience and the ability to adjust to new emerging technologies. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, administering and supporting medium to large J2EE deployments including but not limited to Apache web server, WebSphere, JAS, JBoss, and tcServer/Tomcat spanning multiple versions. The largest environment is a complex and highly available/clustered Web Application infrastructure spanning several DMZ's in multiple data centers with 900+ JVMs with connectivity to Mainframe, Windows, Unix, and Linux platforms. There is also a very critical Web Server Apache deployment spanning 1600+ instances across more than 40 Linux, Unix and Window servers Responsibilities: Participate in Transaction middleware automation activities and take lead to identify the opportunities to automate BAU (business as usual) and project task that can be automated. Strong technical skills to develop shell /Bash scripts to execute daily, weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance work. Demonstrate working knowledge of configuring tool such as Puppet, Chef or other industry leading cloud configuration and automation software package Strong knowledge of WebSphere (different versions), Jboss, Apache and TCserver platform administration and maintenance tasks. Expected to show independence and initiative to prioritize heavy workload, to manage the expectations of customers and to meet communicated deadlines of both projects and operational tasks. Understands business and application requirements to make design decisions that are both financially sound and result in stable systems that meet operational and data security standards. Ability to scale middleware platform horizontally and vertically. Communicates in manner that is appropriate for the situation and possesses the business acumen necessary to communicate how technical design decisions affect users and budgets. Develops detailed documentation for environments where individual is primary project lead or application Subject Matter Expert and capable of training others on particulars of those environments. Capable of developing and executing test plans on emerging technology or new middleware functionality. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Transaction middleware platform with 10-12 years of experience of administrating and supporting WebSphere, Jboss, TCserver and Apache is required. Strong understanding of Shell or Bash scripts Minimum 3 years' experience in using Puppet, Chef or other automation tool Experience in a Linux / UNIX / Windows distributed enterprise environment is required. Experience managing upgrading and patching Apache deployments is required. Experience managing upgrading and patching other Middleware deployments is required.
