REGISTERED NURSE II/III - Medical Surgical Units

Details: The Riverside County Regional Medical Center is currently recruiting experienced Registered Nurses for the Medical Surgical Units, 3100 and 3500, 4100, 4200 & 4500. Available Shifts: Night, 7:00pm - 7:00am Evening Differential: $2.00/hour (3p-11p) Night Differential: $5.00/hour (11p-7a) The Surgical Specialties Unit 3100 is composed of 34 private rooms one used as a Radiation Therapy room for treatment of patients with I-131. The 3100 nursing staff provides services to various types of musculoskeletal & trauma patients, plastic surgery, ENT, neurology, joint replacements, laminectomy, repairs of tendons and nerves, pre & post-op care, wound management, blood and blood product transfusions and telemetry monitoring. The General Surgery Unit 3500 is composed of 34 private rooms. Our dedicated nursing staff provides a wide range of nursing duties such as pre & post-op care, chemotherapy, blood and blood product transfusions, care of the oncologic patient, wound management and telemetry monitoring. The 4100 Med Surg Unit has 34 private rooms and specializes in medical surgical patients and is our designated Stroke Unit. Our nurses are specially trained to care for stroke patients, including NIHSS. We also care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring. The 4200 Med Surg unit is composed of 18 private rooms and specializes in the care of the Observation Level patient. Observation care, as defined by CMS, is a set of specific, clinically appropriate services, which include ongoing short term treatment, assessment, and reassessment that are furnished while a decision is being made regarding whether patients will require further treatment as hospital in-patients or if they are able to be safely discharged from the hospital. We are also the secondary unit for stroke patients. The 4500 Med Surg Unit is composed of 34 private rooms. 4500 provides for our nurses a wide range of opportunities such as: blood and blood product transfusions, chemotherapy, care of the oncologic patient, wound care and telemetry monitoring. 4500 is also the designated unit to care for mental health patients who also have a medical condition requiring hospitalization. Under general supervision to perform professional nursing duties in the care of patients in a hospital, health care clinic, school, home or mental health facility; to assist physicians and carry out their orders; may coordinate a continuum of care for a selected group of patients from pre-admission through post-discharge; and to do other work as required. This is the full journey level class for Registered Nurses working in non-acute care assignments with the Department of Mental Health, Probation Department, Riverside County Regional Medical Center, or the Health Department programs. Incumbents of positions in this class perform the full range of professional nursing duties within the scope of the Nursing Process with a minimum of supervision and periodic in-service training. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Within the full scope of the nursing process assesses, plans, organizes, and provides nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; makes preliminary observations of and prepares patients for medical treatment. • Assists physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests and surgical operations. • As directed, administers prescribed treatment and medications including dispensing as ordered to patients; charts treatment of patients and records and reports significant changes in condition and general progress of patient. • Counsels and advises patients, families, and significant others regarding special medical problems and/or proper health care methods; prepares and maintains concise and complete records and reports. • Instructs patients in carrying out physician's orders; may transcribe physician's orders to working records. • May provide orientation and training to new staff, residents, medical students, ROP and nursing students. • May participate in quality assurance reviews; may act as a team leader or relief charge nurse. • Assigns and monitors the work of subordinate nursing personnel; participates in committee activities. • May triage patients by reviewing admission charts and merging patients into the patient assignment or clinic flow at the appropriate time and place. • May testify in court as to the client's mental and physical condition; may recommend initiating conservatorship investigations when assigned to the mental health setting. • May coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians, primary care nurses, and third party payors to maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility. • May review the post hospital care plan with the patient/family. Establishes a contact regarding time frames and responsibilities. Follows plan through a discharge.

Obtain the name, address, phone number and housing needs of all prospective residents, and establish appointments with qualified prospective residents. • Make follow-up calls from telephone records and send follow-up post cards to all callers and visitors. • Making personal follow-up calls for potential lease renewals as assigned by the General Manager or Assistant Manager. • Place all advertisements in the Advertising Log Book as directed by the Assistant Manager. • Obtain accurate traffic source information and enter it correctly on on-site system. • Open and secure models and "show" apartments daily. • Maintain the rental office, models and "show" apartments in presentable condition at all times. • Walk the property daily to inspect rent ready apartments available to be leased, paying attention to the appearance and general cleanliness of stairwells, breezeways, common hallways and amenity areas. • Must be available to work during any regular office hours including weekends, when requested.
