Veteran owned brewery gives other veterans job opportunities, start distribution agreement in Wisconsin

WAUSAU - A Chicago-based brewery owned and operated completely by veterans will start distributing its two beers in Central and Northern Wisconsin.

Veterans Beer Company started brewing in November. President Paul Jenkins says a percentage of the group's profits are donated to local charities serving veterans.

Democrat Hulsey allowed on ballot against Burke

MADISON - Longshot candidate for governor Brett Hulsey has been allowed on the Aug. 12 primary ballot against fellow Democrat Mary Burke.

The Government Accountability Board voted unanimously Tuesday to grant ballot access to Hulsey, despite challenges to his nomination signatures brought by Michael Basford, chairman of the Democratic Party of Dane County.

Northcentral Wisconsin counties differ on decision to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, want guidelines

WISCONSIN - Gay couples can now get married in Wisconsin. U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb overturned the state's ban on same sex marriages on Friday. However, she didn't order counties to start issuing marriage licenses. That left many county clerks confused about what they could do.

Many county clerks in Northcentral Wisconsin didn't know if they could start issuing marriage licenses to gay couples on Monday morning.

Data shows long waits at Michigans veterans' medical treatment facilities

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI - A federal audit shows the average wait for a new patient at the Iron Mountain veterans' medical center is 23 days.

Data released Monday by the Department of Veterans Affairs say 1,555 veterans across the state have waited more than three months for medical appointments, while 1,686 who signed up for VA health care within the past decade have yet to see a doctor.
