RHINELANDER - Hanson's Garden Village in Rhinelander hopes to move forward after losing $14,000 in a burglary over the weekend.

For smaller businesses in the Northwoods , Memorial Day weekend brings big business. But for the owner of Hanson's Garden Village in Rhinelander, that big weekend turned into a big loss.

Upgrades to computer forensics lab help investigators analyze data faster, solve more crimes

RHINELANDER - The Oneida County Sheriff's Office hopes new technology will help them solve crimes faster. The office upgraded its computer forensics lab. Detectives can now work on multiple cases at the same time.

"It allows us to process cases much more efficiently," said Oneida County Sheriff's Office Detective Sergeant David Kroll.

Federal school regulations require students to take healthy options, students throw food out

RHINELANDER - The federal government forces students to take two half cups of fruits and vegetables at lunch every day. It's part of a push to give students healthier lunch choices.

"This is different than prior years because back then it was an option. They didn't have to have the fruits and vegetables on their tray," said Rhinelander School food service director Patricia Karaba.

Dedication and memorial for fallen firefighter

MERRILL - Firefighters put their lives at risk every day when they're battling fires. One Merrill firefighter gave the ultimate sacrifice years ago. Sunday, he was remembered and honored by his fellow peers and community members.

Newswatch 12 was there to capture the ceremony for the fallen firefighter.

Not everyone is fit to be a firefighter, but one man was.
